When previewing cards online it has always bemused as to why Korean cards fetch higher (not to mention the foil ones) prices than cards of other languages; my question is why is this so? Please enlighten me.
They are used to "pimp" decks. They are rare, especially in foils, so due to the scarcity and people enjoying the pimping of decks the prices go up.

Used for pimping out decks just for the higher value for the card or the fact that the general community thinks that they are nice looking?

Its a mix of all of it, not just one thing in particular.

I have a few asian cards. They are worth a little more, so I really want to trade them. Mainly because I can not read them though.

Like it's been mentioned it's a combination of a few different things. Some of which are, the cards rarity, it is an obvious one, it affects the number printed which affects availability. Import/Export laws are also a factor. Also, from what I know, the foreign printings aren't done in the same quantities as the English printings, which again affects availability because there are even fewer foreign cards opened than there are English cards that are ever opened. Basically just like anything with low supply/availability, the more there is a demand for the product, the higher the price goes.

From what I remember talking to a guy who was stationed in South Korea for 2 years at my LGS about a few Korean cards I had found in a pile of cards I bought in bulk, the reason they are priced higher is due to the fact that TCG's aren't very popular among teens and young adults there therefore not a lot of cards are printed there. It's all about movies, Anime, and video games there.

On a related topic, is the card printing process different for korean cards? I bought a pack of korean M14 and noticed the cards are glossier than english mtg cards.
Is there a specific conversion rate between english and korean cards? I have a foil korean Elixir of Immortality .

They, like Russian cards, are hard to obtain because of the import/export laws of the countries they originate from.
