Liliana of the Veil after Twin

With the banning of Splinter Twin, Jund (and Junk) is, as I understand it, significantly weakened. I think my Modern deck needs a Pair of Liliana of the Veil. Is dip in her price likely?

Prime Staples aren't changing in price. It's much more so that everything else is catching up in price comparison.

Lili has actually increased in price post Twin banning.

Based on Raging Ravine's price spike, I wouldn't count on Jund pieces dropping.

She's decreased a little but doesn't deserve to.

No, Jund and Junk are not significantly worse. Removing one of their fair to good matchups does not make the deck worse.

No we do not know what will fill the void. It is likely Tron and Affinity. This is fine given that one of those is an acceptable matchup whilst the other is hard but not unwinnable.

Whilst other people dabble with worse combo decks Jund and Junk are looking better given their consistant and low cost removal. And whilst people dabble with slow control decks Jund and Junk are looking better given their low cost threats and very strong manlands.

Think before you believe the hype.

Liliana as a card is actually better in a post-twin world.

And in a post-twin world the deck (whether Jund or Junk) has a bit more freedom to cut some of their 1-for-1 removal. They could replace this with multitarget removal like wraths of land destruction like Fulminator Mage because Fulminator Mage into Kolaghan's Command to reanimate your Fulm Mage is so good.

Sorry, why did I say she's decreased in price. She hasn't she's gone up. And rightly so given what I said above. She's a better card now.

And just when I thought $90 was starting to look affordable.

(that was sarcasm)

I traded mine off for a Damnation and Polluted Delta starting to look like it might have been a bad idea. (I also traded my promo Damnation)

I honestly wouldn't move something like Lily at all. She's one of those cards that hasn't moved much in a few years time. Generally a good sign.

ChiefBell hit the nail on the head.

I'm sick of reading these comments, it's clear that these people have no clue what they're talking about and don't play the deck. BG/x is adaptable to pretty much any match and while some matches can be difficult to secure wins, nothing is impossible to overcome.

I will say though, I believe Junk is better positioned than Jund right now. Better Tron match, better SB options, (Stony Silence/Rest in Peace) and access to one of the only answers in modern for Keranos, God of Storms.

Alright guys. Thanks. I'm familiar with BGx and how it works, I just don't play it, let alone have a degree of understanding like that of Chief's. Apologies for coming off as an uneducated nub. Thanks for clarifying this. They haven't spiked extremely of late, are they an "acquire sooner rather than later" card?

I'm unsure about when to pick her up.

You're not a nub. No one is. It's just hard to ever say a midrange deck is ever in a truly bad place.

Especially Modern midrange.

They're the most normal decks in the format.

They're also among the most dangerous due to vast versatility and lack of gimmicks.

Due to that versatility they are also incredibly difficult to pilot well. But a good pilot is an incredibly dangerous opponent.

Midrange decks will never be made "bad" by anything. You can turn off a deck that doesn't have a switch.Add in their generally extreme value to the difficulty to play and that is why you don't see them as consistently as you see some other decks in the format.
