Liliana of the Veil Price Jump
Economics forum

I noticed that according to SCG prices last I checked, Liliana of the Veil was only about $40, And before I go into why I dn't use other sites is because SCG is the only site I'm sure of that Won't have these high-quality counterfeit cards that have been circulating.
But Liliana has jumped up to about $80, can anybody explain to me why this is?
I also Noticed that Snapcaster Mage went from a $20 card to a $40 card on SCG.
Are these seeing a lot more play in legacy and Modern now than they already were a couple months ago?

TCG med on Lili is about $66, not $80, and she can be bought for ~$58. Use SCG if you enjoy paying more for the same product. Snapcaster was always underpriced at ~$20 which is why I've been trading for them for the past 6 months. Question now is what's the selling price if there is one, and are my two foils just going to keep skyrocketing or is there a peak coming?

lol give it a year or 2, Liliana of the Veil will be a 100$ card.
February 28, 2014 11:37 a.m.
@actiontech well excuse me if i don't want to risk the possibility getting a counterfeit card like your dumbass is doing.

My dumbass is going to pay 75% or less of what you pay for the same piece of cardboard. Then I'm going to hold onto it until the price is right and pass it along to another dumbass. And since there either are no counterfeits being issued via TCG (because, I dunno, the entire site is reputation based and people would be out of business if they were selling fakes) or the next guy down the line is screwed but doesn't know or care because he got what he wanted and a better price.
Dumbass, indeed. I welcome the title.

@actiontech why don't you just go fuck yourself you piece of shit! I hope somebody slowly dismembers your stupid ass slowly and keeps you awake during the whole process.
Now I hope you enjoy being a piece of shit!

Yo Epochalyptik, anything you can do about nurzaani? I think that's probably something that shouldn't go unchecked.

While I appreciate the thought TitansFTW, I'm a grown man I can take a little Internet raging. No need to cry to ephochamom about it. He's got more important things on his plate.

@TitansFTW Shut the fuck up you piece of shit, you can go kill yourself also, I hope you have a slow painful death you piece of fucking shit!

Well see now I think you may have pushed it a little too far. I see you've been around 5 months. I'm somewhat hoping someone got hold of your login and this isn't you. For someone to have been around this site for 5 months who is capable of this behavior makes me wonder: what took you so long to snap?

actiontech Now I'm on the receiving end of it, I agree with Blakkhand. It's actually quite funny. No need to do anything about it, it's entertaining to see 12 years olds rage on the internet.

Someone's mommy didn't give them money to buy their Tarmogoyf 's

It's more heavily played than Jace the Mind Sculptor. It will be $100+ soon.

I almost blocked him, but didn't since I kinda want to see more. :P

I am wondering if we should just keep pushing his buttons and make him more angry. It's like at game night with family, the angrier it is, the funnier it is!

It's funny, I didn't think I was really pushing buttons. He popped when I said SCG was overpriced. I mean, is that something people argue about? Seems kinda factual to me.
February 28, 2014 12:07 p.m.
Awwwww.... Epoch, why'd you have to ban him, he was making my day.

SCG is on average about 10% higher than TCG. I use both depending on what I'm doing. When I sell to my LGS she uses SCG and I trade using TCG.
February 28, 2014 12:11 p.m.
actiontech says... #29
Ah see my LGS used to use SCG but the players reject the higher prices and they had to switch to TCG median. If what he said about Lili being $80 on SCG then that's more than a 10% difference.
Anyway, IS there a point where I should sell on snapcasters (I have 10 + 2 foils) or is this one of those cards that'll only go down when the world stops playing MTG?
February 28, 2014 12:13 p.m.
I wouldn't sell yet. I don't think it's reached it's ceiling.

The latter part, what would you trade for 2-4 of the non foil

i'm also kicking myself for not seeking out Snaps before the price jumped

No offense but snaps price jump was incredibly easy to predict.

Yeah it was one of those "wow I can't believe these are still so affordable" cards for a really long time.
February 28, 2014 12:26 p.m.
Don't sell snappy yet. Hold on a little. That's my uneducated opinion.
February 28, 2014 12:26 p.m.
One of the things i enjoy most about magic is accumulating loads of coll cards like ABUR lands, fetchlands and powerful creatures and seeing how the demand for them shifts over time.
February 28, 2014 12:30 p.m.
Wait what happened here? I need to see these missing comments.

Yeah the foils went from about $90 to over $150 in a weekend. Very few available on TCG (in the 150ish range) and eBay has gone crazy. There a bid on a playset of Japanese foils now for $1,150. Still, seems like they could go up quite a bit from here barring a reprint which seems very premature to speculate on since Innistrad was just a couple of years ago.
Liliana's climb has been more "slow but steady" and it's probably not too late to get into the market. As mentioned earlier she could hit $200 pretty easily. I'm trading away one of my 7 copies in a deal for a couple of Cryptic Command s which, like snappy, have skyrocketed in the past week and show no signs of slowing down.

You guys didn't miss anything important. Someone was on the tail end of a redbull + Ritalin binge and got a little confused about the proper spelling of things like "hope you die slowly from mutilation while someone keeps you awake." You know, the usual Internet ribbing that goes on between fellows.
February 28, 2014 12:40 p.m.
Ugh, I can't stand those idiots. Also, Cryptic Command is going crazy! I actually just noticed that: I was thinking of picking one up a month ago, back when it was still $20, and decided against it. I feel terrible now... :(
Oh, and has anyone noticed Blood Moon ?
February 28, 2014 12:43 p.m.
Time for me to buy more packs of modern masters! lol
February 28, 2014 12:44 p.m.
It's because a lot of competitive tournaments have just occurred with new banlists. Everything's going to go crazy for a little while.
February 28, 2014 12:45 p.m.
Well, Cryptic Command has been overpowered since it hit in lorwyn, but I guess people are buying stuff after Pro Tour Born of the Gods that made an impact. I'm thinking that Birthing Pod is next up. It did jump a couple of bucks recently...

actiontech says... #46
Just bought my pods a week ago. Not sure how high it'll go, but 15-20 seems reasonable. Also watch Splinter Twin . That deck is super popular and hard to beat right now. It's something like $17-18 at the moment and I don't doubt if it does well in Richmond it will double if not more.
February 28, 2014 12:51 p.m.
ChiefBell a little less about the banlist and more about what was seen in the PTQ and it's currently 'modern season' more than anything else. GP Richmond is going to also have an impact, but that's next week.
Most of the cards named have no real care about the banlist. for example Cryptic Command could care less about drs and wild nactyl or bitterblossom. Blood moon also. But both are in a new exciting deck, same with teferi (also gone up to the 20+ range), blue moon is actually interesting.

Speaking of the ban list. I'm surprised that Deathrite Shaman hasn't fallen too terribly much. What do you guys see him doing in the near future? Does he see play in Legacy?
February 28, 2014 12:54 p.m.
ChiefBell why I said 'most'.
blackmarker90 yes in legacy, there is a deck named deathblade, it's u/w/x stoneblade that runs drs, hence death in the name. Shardless BUG, NicFit, BuG Aggro/Midrange and a build or two of elves also run him.

Liliana of the Veil has been increasing steadily in value since the beginning of the year.
Snapcaster Mage is going up because of scalpers and Modern season.
