Apologies in advance if this belongs in S,R&S.
So the new Jace was spoiled: link and I think he warrants some discussion. Has anyone else noticed that a) he's got a cmc of 2, and b) his minus 3 is a snapcaster effect?
Meaning that so long as you have 5 cards in your graveyard and a way to give him haste he's essentially a Snapcaster Mage with a looting effect and a planeswalker attached. To me that seems quite powerful even if it requires going to the trouble of giving him haste or waiting a turn. And, coming on the heels of the snapcaster price spike, I think that he's going to have a ton of modern appeal, and therefore monetary value.
Mizzium Meddler, another card recently spoiled (link), looks like it has some modern appeal as well. As a few people in the comments already mentioned a) it's a counter for Abrupt Decay, b) it steals auras, and c) Spellskite effects are really nice. I don't think it's going to be as valuable a Spellskite, but I could definitely see it hovering at about $5.
Thoughts?
BUG Dredge is a definite home for this Jace. Very easy to cast him on t2 and have him flip on turn 3.

The difference between this Jace and Snappy is massive. Snappy comes in when you need at any time. Jace has to wait a full turn as a very delicate target. He'll definitely be tested around, but I don't he will see mainstream play.

jace would be great in sultai whip decks/ delve.
T1: Land
T2: Jace
T3: Satyr Wayfinder put all in grave, tap jace, he transforms, use -3 on some powerful spell like Dig Through Time, Treasure Cruise, See the Unwritten, Temporal Trespass, Worst Fears, etc.

I don't see Jace making a Modern appearance. Dies to Bolt before he does anything, takes another turn to flip, and his Snapcaster ability is sorcery speed. Standard will like him, and his price will probably be pretty high from the hype, but I doubt that will hold.
Agreed with Watermelon on the Meddler. It's a one-time, more expensive Skite'. I don't think the flash ability is going to be overly relevant. Again from a Modern perspective. I'll try him out in my UR Standard Counterburn list and see how that goes.

CheeseBro you still have to pay the spells mana cost it is not free.....

meddler will be a killer sideboard card against twin, and because it targets abilities as well it will hit kiki-jiki too. Ill say $10-15 at least.
Jace is not good. Sure he is snappy with the right circumstanses, but you need to jump through plenty of hoops to get that kind of value. If you need repeatable looting, sure. But its by no means a snappy..

Meddler VS Spellskite
Meddler can be used once. Spellskite can be used multiple times. 1-0 Skite
Meddler requires blue. Spellskite can be played in any deck. 2-0 Skite
Meddler has flash. Skite doesn't. 2-1 Skite
Meddler costs 3. Skite costs 2. 3-1 Skite
I think we have a winner folks XD

Melon: opponent will never play splinter twin while skite is in play. Meddler is much better sideboard card against twin

smackjack That's sort of what you want. You don't really need to steal the Splinter Twin, you just don't want him to win with it. Which also is a +1 for Spellskite, because you won't have to hold 3 mana up every turn.

another plus for meddler is that it isn't hosed by artifact hate.
June 15, 2015 5:05 p.m.
Hummingbird: thats a bad thing too. You cant redirect smash to smithereens to meddler to save your wormcoil for example, as meddler is not a legal target..
June 16, 2015 4:59 a.m.
I think he meant artifact hate like Kataki, War's Wage not artifact removal, but you have a good point.
June 16, 2015 5:05 a.m.
You can't change the target of a spell to an illegal target. Such as Spellskite could not redirect Go for the Throat to itself as it's an artifact.
In the same way Smash to Smithereens cannot be redirected to something that isn't an artifact.

Any speculations on the new Nissa? Starting price and price after a couple of months?

New Jace looks tasty to me in Delver. His -3 is sorcery speed, remember, so he's not the same as Snappy, but I could definitely see him at around 10 dollars, if not more.
Meddler is pretty terrible though, I'll say one buck.
