After last standard season, Master of Waves plummeted to a low price of about 4.50 after reaching a high of 20 dollars with the popularity of Mono Blue Devotion. To my knowledge, it is seeing zero competitive play this standard season. The only place I am seeing this card is in Modern Merfolk, which is why I noticed what I am about to tell you as I'm beginning to build it. Recently, this card has spiked back up to about 11 dollars. Now, this isn't an insane price jump or anything, I just see no reason for it when in september this was a 4 dollars mythic. This card is even still in standard, and packs of theros are still being opened, so i don't see where the price jump is coming from.

Are you sure you didn't accidentally see the foil price? I just checked, and it's still 3-4 bucks.

slovakattack Hm, weird. I use this app Decked Builder and it set my price source to Cardshark Mid instead of TCGPlayer. Well, that explains it. Still a bit weird cardshark has it that high. Anyways, problem solved haha.

Travis Woo has been trying to force his dirt cheap dirty blue build, and it's been gaining in popularity online a little bit, so a few stores might try to artificially inflate the price while they think there'll be demand.

The power is definitely there and it could spike hard if something gets printed in Fate. I've been targeting them in trades.

With dual mana in Fate Reforged, we could see more color mana symbols in cards, making non-green devotion decks popular again.

Ive been playing standard mono-blue at fnm and its worked out great I took 1st my first try with it and 4th last week I went 3-1 I would love to see something make it spike again in the next few sets but its unlikely with all the three color clan play

It's not really the popularity of three-color decks that makes the deck a less popular choice, it's because it lacks the power. It has the potential, and some god hands, but it still needs a little extra push.
