So TCG has some Mizzium Meddler's up for sale, a bunch of em, at like $4 dollars each. Neither Starcity, nor Channel Fireball, have any for sale.
Two questions... the first is, is the card a rare or an uncommon? When I first saw it spoiled I could have sworn that I saw it was an uncommon, but the new art is a foil and shows it listed at rare.
If it's a rare, I think $4 is a great buy in price for a play-set as the card is the only clearly standard playable card in the set. If it's an uncommon, 4 is very high.
Guess I just wanna know what you guys think. if the card is a rare, is $4 reasonable? I don't wanna wait a day or two, have starcity list it at like $10, and then have lost my chance.

It's the launch promo. I prefer Stratus Dancer to this guy. I would value it like you would Hushwing Gryff.

DMR It's like a counter spell on a body that just can't stop discard spells. It absorbs 90% of burn spells, it eats kill spells for your better creatures, and it redirects counter spells turning itself into a counter spell that leaves a body behind. Why would you ever think that was bad?
Edit: It can also affect activated abilities, most counter spells can not.

I understand what is does, and in MagicalChristmasLand it's good, but I've seen a lot of people making some extremely bold speculations on this card that are flat out wrong, like "this will replace Spellskite." Next, what are you talking about redirecting counter spells? For it to redirect anything, it needs to resolve for the etb ability to activate, therefore counter spells cannot legally target it. Finally, what format are you talking about here? MAYBE standard playable, but it holds no eternal value.

I mean, I would never think to say this would replace spellskite. And yea, i'm talking about standard.
I guess after thinking about it, yea, it can't touch counter spells. Was thinking it could have the cs target it and fizzle the spell since it was already in play but I guess not. I still think being able to eat a removal spell is valuable. At the very worst, it's a body. I think calling it bad is not giving it nearly enough credit.

Please don't tell me that you think it is the only standard playable card in the entire set. There are way better spoiled cards.

I'm curious as to the extent of his ability, hypothetically, if someone cast Swift Reckoning on one of your creatures and you flashed in Mizzium Meddler to redirect the spell, would he not die, due to not being tapped, and the same with spells like Ride Down if he isn't blocking he wouldn't die from the spell, or that's the impression I'm getting.

This card is really really great when you play it with Splinter Twin. You can tap mizzium meddler and change the target of any spell. In that sense, it is better than Spellskite.

It's rare, but why would you want it? I was under the impression the card was not very good.
