MM15 vs. Staples

So I happen to have $270 to spend at the moment, and I've been debating on whether I should buy a box of Modern Masters or to spend it on staples, like Liliana of the Veil or Snapcaster Mage. The MM15 choice would both be a decent way to get into Modern and an investment for the future, but the staples option would be a for-sure good way to get into the Modern scene.
What do you guys think? Should I preorder a box of MM15 for $240 or should I get a few staples? Should I also consider waiting for MM15 to be fully spoiled before making a choice?
Inb4 buying singles you need is always better than playing the lottery.
By the time the set is spoiled, you probably wont get the chance to do so. The only reason boxes are preordering for 250 (CFB prices for example) only is because nothing is spoiled yet. By release, boxes will be more than 300.
Buy the cards you need. If you want to gamble, head to a casino. If you want to have fun, get a box to draft, but I would probably choose conspiracy for that.

I'd go for the box. you could sell anything you dont need and have enough for those 2 AND have leftovers.

DERPLINGSUPREME, the boxes are designed so that exact thing can't happen

MeMinusMyself Unless you, for some freak and random accident, get two foil $30 cards in there. Emrakul, Tarmo, Splinter, the list is endless.
Well, actually, it absolutely ends, but you get my point.

Only should buy boxes if you dont have the commons/uncommons..ie your new, or didn't play when thr older cards were played. Buying packs is not a good way to get the rares you are needing. Usually, you end up spending more for the packs and not getting all you need. If the shop could make more by opening the packs than by selling the packs, they would do so.

I don't think I'm saying much that hasn't already been said, but if you're just going to crack the packs trying to get cards then it's a pretty bad choice. My playgroup is going to draft the box. This gives us the chance to pull something nifty, but really we just like limited. Still a calculated risk with the price but at least we'll have fun drafting regardless. Nothing is fun about opening a box full of duds.
All that said, I like opening packs. It's just fun to do in my eyes. You just have to acknowledge that it's not a sound investment.

You should buy the box and have fun drafting it with some friends. You probably wont get everything you want, but you will have fun playing the game :).

I usually would buy packs and boosters because...
1) I don't really care what rares I get (and if it's something good I don't want, I usually trade with someone else to get another thing)
and 2) Because I think that's my favorite part of the game, opening the packs. I love the thrill. XD

If you are out to build something specific you should buy singles, as this will be the most cost effective way of acquiring what you need. If you are looking to acquire more of a collection of Modern legal cards that will be useful and are generally looking to increase your pool of Modern legal cards...go with the box.

I think you should buy staples if you really want to get into the format and if you know what deck you want to play. You won't get too many chase rares if you just buy a box (by design), so if you want to get the most value for your money, I'd go with staples.
