An articles on the predicted EV of MM2 yet?

What was it for the original MM.

EV = quite a lot as if they are extorting $10 a pack we'd better get something good every time.

Can't really predict EV with only two spoiled cards...

$10 rrp, $30 is what most stores are charging.

And this will only serve to make modern even more expensive. What they need to do is make an unlimited print run like they did with Conspiracy. There is a $60 foil common in there and you can still get a box for $90.

Indeed. Wizards need to pull their finger out.

"Indeed. Wizards need to pull their finger out."

Truer words have never been spoken.

God wizards, give Tarmogoyfs out for free on the stree and reprint zendikar block and innistrad until no-one hasn't got playsets of snaps, lilis, goyfs, fetches, manlands etc.

Then the price of Modern will drop.

Print and give everyone infinite money then nobody will be poor :)

Well they'd be simultaneously making money and supporting the format if they did reprint all those cards in non-limited-print-run sets.

Ah, but wizards can't just print unlimited print run Tarmogoyfs. Something about "protecting the collector's investment" or something. I don't know.

Of course I want them to print a bunch more modern staples. I think it would help us the players, the modern format, and make more money for them.

Any of these arguments could be made about the Reserved List as well. Gah! Those collectors! (Shaking my fist)

Part of the game is the fact that not everything is cheap, it's just like if you were playing an RPG and could get the best gear with your starting gold, It'd be silly. Then again, this is coming from someone who trades and has really good luck.

No. That's part of the game in legacy and vintage. At no point was it supposed to be an inherent part of the game for modern. Wizards have repeatedly said the whole reserved list thing was a mistake, they'd never do it again and breeding creativity and entry to the format is far more important than appeasing collectors. This isn't really akin to an RPG because you don't like 'level up' and get better at magic in the same way. Anyone should be able to play with goyf if they want to; they won't win unless they know what they're doing.

It is in no way like an RPG. Using your analogy its more like blizzard's real money AH for D3. They shut that shit down after a year and introduced a new loot system for the betterment of the game. I have resigned myself to Legacy having a high monetary requirement since they have to honor the reserved list. However let the collectors have the reserved list and make Modern a good format for players instead of collectors.

ChiefBell good point. Was mainly playing devils advocate, but it does seem silly for them to push creativity and put a price tag on it.

February 8, 2015 7:12 a.m.

ChiefBell says... #16

Precisely. At the moment they can't decide which they want more: collectors or players.
