Nahiri?

Im considering getting myself a playset of Nahiri, the Harbinger to be able to relatively easy transform my Kiki Control deck into another deck.

She is quite on the pricey side tho, i can get a playset for about $120 where i live, so im considering waiting.. Heres a few questions:

  1. Is she still Standard legal?

  2. When will she rotate?

  3. Is Standard play the reason for her price tag, or is it Modern playability that keeps her price high?

  4. Is Nahiri control viable in Modern? I think it looks fun, so im almost convinced i want to play it. But if i will loose all games the fun wouldn't last long..

  5. Wanna trade for her? I don't have a updated binder here on T/O and i live in Sweden so if you are willing to send to Sweden we could work something out. I have plenty of staples i dont use (Modern/Legacy). I also got some standard stuff i dont use, like the new Ajani and Tez, the new Glimmervoidish land (if its worth anything).. Moat (italian, valued at $200) for the legacy player and alooot more. What do you need? ;)

  6. Should i just stop whining over $120 and buy them now?

I can answer most of this:

  • First of all, yes she is Standard legal, until September this year.

  • I believe it's modern play keeping her price high. Last I knew, she was only seeing fringe play in Standard.

  • She also is at about $20 now, so unless your getting foils, your overpaying for the set.

  • Nahiri control is also a fringe deck in Modern, so it could be viable.

  • And sadly, no I don't have one to trade.

Hope this helps!

Edit: I didn't see that you were in Sweeden. Disregard my pricing info then. :P

She is Standard legal, and will rotate out with the release of the block after Amonkhet, "Ham," in October of this year.

She is played in Standard, but I expect most of her price comes from Modern. I wouldn't be surprised to see her drop some after she rotates, but don't expect her to become cheap.

How does she cost 120$ for a playset? At her current price, I'd have expected a playset to be more in the 80 dollar range.

  1. Yes she is still Standard Legal.

  2. She rotates in Q4 2017, so late fall to early winter this year. For future reference, http://whatsinstandard.com/ is what I use to keep me up to date.

  3. It's really her Modern playability that makes her that expensive. She has a lot of good synergy with heavy hitters, like Emrakul, the Aeons Torn and others. There are a few other combos, but I can't remember them off the top of my head.

  4. It's viable in certain metas, but not sturdy enough in others. Depends on what your local scene looks like, or wherever you intend you play.

  5. Would love to trade, but I don't have one :(. Sorry.

  6. No, I would wait. Also, a playset should really only cost you $80 or less right now. If your local shop is charging more than that, they are price gouging you. I would definitely wait or get them somewhere else. Even if they were all foil, that would be $160. I also wouldn't get foil anyway. Looks prettier, but it does the same thing.

@PhotogenicParasympathetic: His location might be a factor in the price.

@Atony1400: Yeah, I just caught that myself. I read he was in Sweden, but it didn't process with my pricing info at first, either.

@JerichoDarkstar, Yeah I didn't see it because he edited it after he posted, but either way, that's still a little steep for a playset.

Well screw that. smackjack: Give me 80$ and cover shipping and I'll get you a playset for way cheaper and mail it to you.

Bloody hell. Nevermind, I just looked up generic shipping prices, and it would be WAY more expensive to do it that way. Sorry.

Well yes peeps, im from Sweden, the land of PewDiePie, Taxes, Minecraft and beautiful ladies. Thats why the price is quite high (right now there is 5 retailers for me, online included, $120 being the cheapest).

PhotogenicParasympathetic This is something i might want to do.. Maybe we could trade dust collectors while were at it? PM me your email and we could maybe figure something out :)

PhotogenicParasympathetic I traded with US here on this site years ago. I payed about $10 for shipping (not with tracking tho).

Ok, I'm down. I looked at estimated shipping, so with no idea what the actual cost would be, but if it's only in the 10$ range that'd work nicely. You can email me at [email protected] to figure it out!

you mention Sweden and don't bring up any hockey legends like the Sedin twins, Lidstrom, or Jonas Brodin (my fav because he is a Wild player). tsk tsk

I will agree with you though smackjack the ladies of Sweden are top notch, Finland ain't too bad either, but I know enough about the history of your countries to not go any further......lol

00xtremeninja Finnish girls are whores who believe you get a tan from a sauna. Ignore them, they do no good.

Also, im sorry if i offend you, but is hockey still an actual sport? I remember hockey and the mighty ducks from when i was young, but is that thing still going on? Do people compete in "hockey"?

Hell yeah hockey is still a thing. I guess maybe us as American hockey fans are led to believe many of the colder European countries are die hard hockey nuts like Canada or those in the northern and North eastern US. Swedish defensemen are usually the top defensemen in the NHL.

And your comment about Finnish girls is exactly what I meant. Lol. Long standing rivalry, mostly in fun, of the two countries.
