Open versus sealed product for C16

I was wondering if keeping something sealed makes a big difference when it comes to the pre-con commander decks. I recently purchased the Atraxa C16 pre-con at target about 2 months ago, but I have been debating if I should open it to make someone did no scam me. I have never seen this deck in a store before and worried someone had bought it, swapped out the deck for random junk, and then returned it. I have looked over the box and it does not look like it had been opened. My question is, if I were to open to check will I be depleting the value of the deck. I was going to hold onto the deck and keep it as it is, but I do not want to check if we are talking about me losing half of the value.

I do have another question about the box. One of the bottom corners have been slightly dented in so I was not sure if that would deplete the value as well.

I want to make sure I make the right decision before my window of opportunity to rerun it passes. Any advice would be much appreciated.

It would be helpful if you took a picture of the dent on the bottom corner and posted it so we could make a better judgment there.

As for your first question, if you plan on holding onto the item long term there's no sense in opening it as it is much more valuable sealed. You have nothing to worry about in terms of someone switching the cards out or whatever, that's not too common an issue if one at all. Sometimes you just get lucky when shopping at big box stores like that. I recently found a japanese breya deck at walmart that I am also keeping sealed for quite a while.

If you want to play with the deck, definitely open it up and go for it, but if you're looking for a sort of investment, keep it sealed and forget that you have it for a few years.

Thanks for the feedback to my question. Since damage to the box could depreciate the value I did upload the pictures for someone to take a look at. I personally do not feel like the damage is that bad to warrant a big decrease in value, but I do realize how much people like things to look perfect.

I would imagine it would hurt the value a bit but if you are not going to play with the deck leave it sealed

Yeah, that's not too big a deal. Might tack off like $7 or something from your final price but the damage is nothing to worry about.
