Are these worth picking up? Particularly for Born or, if available, Journey. What's a price that's too much?

I usually see them sell for $25, which is $1 too much for six booster packs no matter how you look at it. If you don't place any value on a spindown, then there's really no extra value to be had in the packs.
I guess there is a slight bonus in that you're guaranteed a specific-colored rare, but that's not really terribly exciting.

They all have the chance of including a pantheon pack, that could increase the value somewhat, especially if one or more of the gods becomes a eternal staple.

The new seeded packs have that additional value. The chance of it happening seems pretty low, but it's worth considering, I suppose.
The old prerelease seeded boxes don't seem to hold any real value, though.

Save your money... have you opened more than one? Nyx is a total failure in the experiment of seeded packs. Had 80 customers at the first of five prerelease events last night, half left before the fourth round. These are die hard MTG fans, we aint big, we built our store on devotion to the game(s). The complaints were about guess what, the seeded packs. Most people had hoped this would give them an edge in their chosen colors, and the ratio was about 10% did, the rest was a hodgepodge, and looked nothing like it was themed towards helping the player, old or new, build into their given choice. Horrible, and I lost customers I'm sure till the 2015 blocks come around. Thanks MTG.

I'm not sure what print runs included the pantheon pack of gods, but i've bought a booster box for the hell of it. Let's see what happens.

@Darq1 theyve all been like that. No one should be surprised. The only guarentee is a rare in your color or god of your color

Green or red would be ykur best bet for pullung xenagos, prolly a lot of value in getting them though unless you find some weird collector with sealed prerelesse packs
