Hey i started this thread to find out how everyone else price checks when trading... Like what website do you use that is most accurate?

@vampirelazarusThank you i just noticed that feature. Can you help me find a card here though. I need to see the average for a foil Sacred Foundry from gatecrash and i cant link it as or find it as foil.

There are two major price-checking sites.
TCGplayer.com
TCGplayer draws secondary market prices from a large number of registered sellers and then averages them. Therefore, it more accurately reflects the status of a card in the SM. The downsides are that it doesn't have data for some printings, and that it doesn't provide an easy way to gauge foil or foreign prices.
StarCityGames.com
SCG has an enormous inventory, so it is a consistent means of pricing all cards, including foils, foreigns, and special printings. Some players don't like SCG because its prices tend to be a little higher than TCG average, but SCG is still consistent.

If I am approaching the person on a trade I will go off of what they do as long as its not ebay and ive heard of it before. If they come at me I am probally gonna use TCG but ill use starcity as well. It depends on the card. Sometimes I dont bother price checking but it depends on the card.

In most instances the price difference doesn't matter between the two sites. In a lot of trades I have done the values of the cards on SCG and TCG are negligible in difference at best.
tl;dr: You will usually get the same amount of trade using SCG or TCG.

Sacred Foundry foil average is $26.52 as of 2:30 am.
Sorry, Zikkeryzak, I went away to go play "terrible" video games, because my date cancelled on me... again.

I don't really have a preference between SCG and TCGplayer as long as the same site is used for every card in the trade. TCG is usually the site I'll use first though.

I'll generally use TCGplayer mid prices. I find that TCG doesn't inflate prices like some independent sellers do (I'm looking at you SCG).

I use the average on TCGplayer.
Its handy because the android app MTG Familiar has a trade feature as well, that displays both sides of the trade, and their current values.
