Problem with Pucatrade

Economics forum

Ok so not %100 sure this is the right forum to post. I was recently sent a foil Bitterblossom and noticed that it cost me 6399 points ($64)! That is ~1400 ($14) more than it normally is, and even that price is a little high. Has something like this happened to anybody? What can I do? I messaged the sender today but he is in Italy and hasn't responded.

First, keep track of these things before you add them to your trade list. Second, if a price seems wrong, go to the card's page. There is a link under the price to alert them to when a price is incorrect

Right now it shows the normal price of 4999. The whole time I've seen it on my want list its been at this price.

Nothing else was sent to you?

Sometimes they are subject to phantom price spikes (due to glitches or something) that last few hours or a day until they get reported... If you haven't completed the trade you may be able to get admin assistance to sort it out, if the price is truly due to a glitch.

Oh the trade was made earlier today. It's marked as shipped but I haven't received anything.

Should I click the "report problem" button?

it doesn't hurt to click report a problem and get admin help and explain in the response you confusion or misunderstanding. the worst case scenario is nothing is done and you are out 1400 points, if you do nothing you will be out 1400 points. ask the admin for instruction/clarification.

Some people will list the cards at an insane price, and that will artificially raise the price of the card. They then send them out at that inflated price.

Is that against the rules or do I just have to suck it up? I contacted an admin but I'm waiting on a response.

I would say that is highly dishonest. Also people playing the spikes, and taking advantage of people happens alot. I hope they get back to you on that. It seems they have some pricing issues. Stay vigilant.

Well here's my response from an admin:

Brandon, On PucaTrade, it's the recipient's responsibility to:1. Ensure that their Wants List is maintained2. To confirm receipt of cards immediately from their Active Trades Page, once the recipient has verified that the cards have arrived in the correct condition, edition, and language

As C2 mentions on our Rules Page:

"On PucaTrade, adding a card to your Want List is confirmation that youre willing to receive the card for the market-rate of the card. If the market-rate of the card changes its your responsibility to remove the card from your Want list in accordance with your own desires to receive it."

While you might have been quick in asking your trading partner, (edited), to adjust the points of this incoming card, (edited) is not obligated to do so. In the future, please be more vigilant in maintaining your Wants List, and ensure that it only contains cards that you'd like to receive.

So basically I'm not going to have a want list and only try to receive cards when I can literally watch the stupid page for a price spike. Anybody else think that's lame?

That is unfortunate. That sort of thing is going to encourage people to say that it never showed up. This is a big problem, especially with bigger cards.

I'm paying $20 more for no reason other than peoples greed, somehow my fault for not watching the site 24/7. Spike happened while I was at work...I replied to the admin but I doubt they are really listening.

I feel for you. That is tough to deal with. I am really surprised that the admin did not refund you the difference from the site at the very least.

I saw this situation on reddit.

Someone was being sent card X. Two weeks, and the sender canceled. Card X is now worth 10 dollars more. Site gave the dude the difference in points, and he never even had the card. I am not sure if this is true, but that is what the dude claimed happened.

I guess it is down to which admin you end up talking too. I would make a thread on reddit, it looked like the admins respond there better. Since it is in the public eye, and not just in their inbox.

This just happened to me actually. I had 3 foil Terminate listed on my wants @ 500 points and left town on vacation. On the road I had very intermittent Internet access and was driving most of the time so didn't even log into pucatrade for 3-4 days. When I did I saw that 1 guy was shipping me one of them and another the other 2 copies @ 2499 points EACH. I contacted both guys and asked them to cancel. The guy sending a single did immediately and understood the situation. The other guy was a jerk about it and said it was my fault for not keeping track of the price of the cards. I opened a case explaining what happened (the card is still overpriced on the site @ 1995 at this point) and that I never intended to pay so much for them. Guy continues to argue it's my fault, but the admins have stepped in and I am returning the cards for a full refund, less the cost of shipping.

I don't think your case is as extreme, but the admins there are quite helpful.

The first one basically said it was my fault but another one offered the refund like that.

actiontech make sure to get tracking on those.

These situations make me think puca needs to get their act together quick. It has been happening more often then it should. I am glad the admins worked with you though.

I am waiting on a remand, been almost 2 and a half weeks. I have had trades take around that amount of time though, so I am ok waiting a little longer.

Oh yeah, I tracked it and posted the # in the case notes.

Just wanted to quickly note that the cards made it back to the sender today and the trades were both cancelled and I got my 4,998 points back. I also have a new addition to my blocked user list.
