Promo Emrakul: Hold or Sell Now?

I have a Prerelease Promo Emrakul, the Promised End. Should I sell it now or hold it in hopes of it going up?
Personally, I would hold it for now. Foils and Promos will likely be somewhat in demand for cubes and EDH, and I think it can be played in standard.
However, $45 is pretty high so I can't fault you for wanting to move it.

Cube demand typically has very little impact on market value. EDH isn't super impactful either. EDH staples, while they do have some market impact, don't have near as much as the constructed formats. And when I say EDH staples I mean things that are only relevant in EDH.

Granted new Emmy could be a big player in EDH, especially since she doesn't require colorless mana.

TMBRLZ True, however, it's likely to see play in Standard and not out of the question in Modern, either. I agree that he should probably sell, but it wouldn't be unwise to hold it either.

The foil / promo may go up. Regular will dump like kozi did.

Sell it. It's not too great in EDH, it costs too much to be super competitive in Modern, and unless they print something in Kaladesh, it's not super game-breaking, aside from actually managing to cast it. It can be done, but there are more reliable ways to win. I believe it's high point will not be much more than $60. Ultimately, it's up to whether or not you can get that value for it (most shops either use a buylist or half value, and only in store credit), and whether or not you're going to use it. If you didn't pay $60 for it, then you'll be making a profit for what you get for it, even if it does go up. If you're going to use it, then you might as well keep it, but if you're not going to use it, it's nice trade bait, if that. Haven't seen anyone like the card enough that they want to get a foil.

Let me just emphasize: It's a prerelease promo. It isn't going to be worth much. It will always be cheaper than the pack foil and the gap will only widen. It's value as a promo is hopeless. It's relevance in value is going to be "Is this card good?"
So if you think it will be good then hang on to it.
But also consider this. If this is a card that ends up being good most people will not go for the foils. They'll just want the strong deck. And they'll be willing to save the notable value difference to wait for a non-foil to come along.
As somebody who's watched this from behind the counter for two years, whether its good and goes up or a bad card and goes down, you'll have an easier time moving it right now than you will down the line.
Prerelease promos are essentially garbage unless you're staring at one from five or more years ago, or of an eternal format card. Foils only cost more because they're expected to cause they're "rarer." But the reality of the mature magic community is that most players steer clear of them. The shop I work for didn't even buy foils for the longest time because they were next to impossible to move, considering people would rather just save the money, wait, and get a non-foil.
People only seek foils for the decks they love. And honestly I can't see new Emmy reaching that potential. But I can't see the future either.
So I'm restating my suggestion: On the basis that it's a promo and no other reason, sell it now while time and demand is on your side. I'm not going to speak for sure on anything about it's playability value. I'm not into speculation.
