Has Spiked! Glad he did to. I have been holding these wonderful kitties since release as I wanted to do something with them, just was not sure what.

Looks like the Khans Pro Tour has shown what these little bad boys can do. http://mtgprice.com has them spiking up to $6 and steady climbing. My LGS has them stickered at $8! and moving them!

Scoop em up while you can find them cheap! Even if you wont play them, if you can still pick these up in the $2-$4 range that will be an easy double up over the course of the next week or two.

Glad I bought my playset at $2 ea. It's amazing in Abzan Aggro. Can't wait to play it.

As we saw in the PT I think the "I've got big guys" approach was proven to be a bit better in the long run.

That being said, the deathdealer can do quite a lot of work.

I'm glad people see the value in him.

Remember, most abzan deck that uses Desthdealer will also use Rhino. Best of both worlds.

DrFunk27 I was just referring to the fact that Ari took first and not Mike. (Yes, I'm aware that not a lot of people like Ari but still.)

The thing I like about Deathdealer is that he can trade up and he can stay alive easily in a vacuum (i.e. land floods and stalled out boards). The thing I DON'T like about Deathdealer is that he's mana intensive and that he requires that you keep up all of the time if you want him to stay alive. This essentially puts you 2 turns behind.

People get down on deathdealer because he is mana intensive but I have done quite a bit of playtesting with him and I really like for numerous reasons. He swings ahead of the curve if you pump him up and with Nylea trample (whom I run) this is great. Also I find myself many times sitting back filling up my hand on draws while manipulating Deathdealer to my advantage. I can swing with him and make my opponents have to make nasty choices of whether to block or not knowing all my mana is open. Over all this is a solid card.

I have been toying with different Golgari and BUG builds and normally always have the Deathdealer in them. I ran Golgari for a while before rotation and seen heavy play of Lotleth Troll so I instantly saw the value in the Deathdealer.

With Rattleclaw Mystic and Sylvan Caryatid as well as other mana drop modifiers like Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth and Fetches in play right now it will be interesting to see what standard will look like in a few weeks now that people see what the pro's have done with B/G and BUG builds.

It reminds me a lot of Truefire Paladin . The pump can be awful at times but it also can be a real savior if the has to make choices before you commit any mana or cards to the field. Really depends on the board-state but it is frequently in your favor over theirs and that is without offering them any real 'choices' other than basic counterplay.

Erm, I've got 2 of these, if somebody wants them. Lol.

Yeah this is just a temporary price spike. Buying now would be a poor decision, it's the time to sell if you have extras.

Was not suggesting a long term investment :) Just a heads up for anyone that could make a quick flip.

Deathdealer will find a home this std season. If you can grab them at 2, do it because they'll be 6-8 soon.

Many retailers use SCG for there pricing...... This will be done more easily then you think at least within the next 24 hours. SCG also, not a fan of updating a price when they are out of stock. Might not get done overnight tonight.... hard to say.

uggggh Sorry above was in response to DrFunk27

I understand but 1. SCG is sold out meaning increased demand which translates to increased prices. 2. TCG is the next place to look and they are $5 atm. I suppose at $5 it could be a decent chance but I wouldn't take my chances on it.

What are the thoughts on this now that is back to $2? Also, does it see any play in modren at all or will it be a $.50 bulk post rotation? I'm mainly curious because I have 3 foil deathdealers I've pulled and would rather dump them for $6 now than $2 later.
