"Reaper of the Wild" will it be more than a 2 dollar rare

I recently pre order a playset for 8.50 plus a 1.00 shipping. I think it will go really well in my golgari deck that I am building with Thoughtseize and I was wondering what other people's view may be on this card, if it'll go up (maybe say 5-10 dollars) or be a cheap rare in the end.

It's not amazing, not a bad card either. I doubt you're going to be making money off these but it's probably not a bad deal getting them now while they're cheap

It's too much of a niche-card and Golgari has lot's of 4-drops already (Deadbridge Goliath , Desecration Demon , Corpsejack Menace ). I don't think it will see much play. The deathtouch is nice, but if you look closely it doesn't to anything. Let's assume you don't have the deathtouch, any opponent won't attack or block with a creature below x/5. Let's assume you have the deathtouch and nothing changes. Maybe you can stall the board and stop a Kalonian Hydra from smashing in but at the end of the day this card does not much else. If the second ability would be regen it would be a lot better. So you could offer a trade and regen her. But if you offer a trade and someone is willing to take it you get like 0 benefit. Just my thoughts.

My main liking of the card is due to scry 1, and hexproof. With golgari, i have doom blade, abrupt decay, putrefy and more to cycle to what I need, figuring that i am facing a deck with creatures or blacks ability to sack my own creatures.

This card will also hold at least a few dollars of value when it rotates out, because it's an EDH gem.

It's an efficient body with 2 very relevant abilities, I think it'll probably stick around $4-$6. Just wish Innistrad wasn't rotating out so I could combo it with Harvester of Souls ... At least there's Dark Prophecy ... I guess.

I can see this card going down in value. These things will be flooding peoples collections once Theros drops. They're probably more expensive now than they will be for the rest of their time in standard. Not a terrible card, but not something I can imagine going up in value. When you pre order cards, generally the price is jacked way up because everyone is excited for the new cards, and people will buy them either way. But once Theros booster packs are all over the place, cards like this will be a dime a dozen. Corpsejack Menace status: was a 3$ cards before the set dropped, now theyre like .75. Im predicting the same fate for reaper of the wilds.

Corpsejack dropped so low mostly because it was a promo for two different products. They printed a ton of those guys. Also it's a creature that does nothing by itself.

This is definitely better than Corpsejack Menace . I would say it'll range somewhere from $2-$4.

Corpsejack Menace isn't a good card. This card does better in the vanilla test, has two very relevant activated abilities and has scry 1 which is amazing on a good creature

I was not comparing the quality of the cards, I was comparing they're monetary value pre rotation and post rotation.

Corpsejack menace was just one of many examples of cards that are/were more expencive than they should be before they're release.

Well it was a bad example then because the two factors of card value are how well the card plays and how flooded the market is with them. They printed more menaces than any other rare in RAV (aside from the other promos), and it's the only one of the promos that by itself is a creature with zero effect on the game. There should be no question about why menace is a dollar rare. Reaper on the other hand has potential hexproof (always relevant) and repeatable "free" scry, which we already know is hugely powerful.
