Master of Waves Snapcaster Mage
Hey guys! So I traded my Master of Waves for a lovely Snapcaster Mage . I understand Master of Waves doesn't rotate for a very long time, so it's a good deal on the other end, but what do you think about the Snapcaster Mage ? This isn't for standard-- more modern.
If I had 2-4 Master of Waves then I don't think I would have traded him, but I only had one. I tried to build a 40 card deck around him and it wasn't happening.
Who got the better deal?
If you look at years down the road you probably did overall, while if we were to look all throughout master's time in standard there could be a few months it could be about 35 if standard demands it enough.

You defiantly got the better deal unless Master of Waves raises up in price but either way your deal was the safer path as Snapcaster will most likely won't fall but rise slowly or will be around a stable 15 dollars.

Dang, I think I should trade the three or four I have now while I can lol.

Master of Waves will be a $5 mythic if its lucky by the time it rotates out. Snapcaster Mage is up there with Dark Confidant in terms of power, so don't expect it to drop under $20. Don't be surprised if it hits $60 a few years down the road.

yes sylvannos master will be a dirt cheap card after it rotates, but we're talking almost 2 years, long enough for it to fluctuate from 15-35 much like other popular 4 drops in standard pasts, so in a short run his trade might appear to be bad, even if in the long run this likely won't be true.

Long term, Snappy has lots of value. Short term, MoW will probably drop in price with Born of the Gods.

Snapcaster Mage will one day be worth hundreds of Master of Waves

You did. Master of Waves 's price will almost definitely drop whenever the rest of Theros does, and maybe even before. Snapcaster Mage , however, is a staple in most formats. It's price will most likely rise and continue to rise until it hits $30 again.
