So which Dragonlords are going to retain value?

Are any of them even relevant in any format other than Standard, and is it smart to trade for a Dragonlord Ojutai for non standard play?
Nope and nope. They're pretty much useless everywhere else, and will likely all fall into low single digits as soon as they rotate. Do not pay $30 for that guy unless you need him for Standard; I'm not sure where you would use him outside of it anyway. Long-term it is guaranteed to be a losing investment, even if he goes up a few bucks before then.

Alright thanks guys. My friend recently pulled one and I was wondering if it would be worth it for me to trade for it, but my playgroup is mostly casual/edh, so yeah, I'm not gonna go for it.

They certainly won't be 30$ after rotation. But almost solely because of the elder dragon subtype(they're cool also), they'll be casual favourites. So they won't be bulk but no staple(Maybe EDH but that's not my thing). I'd guestimate 3-15$ depending on how it plays out 15 is real high

Lone Revenant for comparison sake. ...I'll be surprised if they go for even 3$ in the long run.

They should be semi-popular in Commander, because you know... Legendary Dragons. But other than that I doubt it.
It's perfectly fine to trade for it if you want to brew it in Modern, and Dragonlord Ojutai may be the Dragonlord most likely to find a niche in Modern, but at the same time I can't really see it getting much play in upper tiers.
