Sooooo if RTR has so much value why are the boxes and stuff at like base price? Is it because it is still in print and in standard?
There's also Vraska the Unseen , Supreme Verdict , Abrupt Decay , Slaughter Games , Counterflux , Rakdos's Return , 5 shocklands, Dreadbore , Mizzium Mortars , and Cyclonic Rift . That set has a ton of power, flavor, and relevant cards.

Abrupt Decay
and Deathrite Shaman
will probably be the 2 most valuable cards in the set. Supreme Verdict
will be okay, Sphinx's Revelation
will probably drop considerably, as will Detention Sphere
. Probably the biggest reason RTR is so valuable is all of the shock lands, which will probably eventually make their way up to the $25-$30 range.

@cupofnoodles: Sets don't go back into print.
@EmblemMan: RTR is long out of print.

I'm actually finding it quite hard to get my hands in a box of RTR - all of my local shops have sold out.

ChiefBell just go online? so long as you get a sealed box youre fine and yeah Epochalyptik i wasnt sure how long the continued to print cards i assumed it was when they rotated out of standard thanks and i see them everywhere for 95-100 bucks so i was just curious why they are that and not more

Sets generally stay in print for about a year, so RTR stopped being printed when Theros came out and Gatecrash stopped with Born of the Gods etc etc.

Rtr was still 1st set and largly sold, local prices have gone up even if online is still $95, in the next year expect that price to creep up more towards the 120, 140 etc range

Keep an eye on massdrop.com. They've had several "drops" of RTR boxes. I just picked up 3 more for my closet @ $86/box + $5 shipping/box. Sadly it's USA only, but for those of us here it's a really good buy. Channelfireball also had a $85 sale on them recently but they add $11 shipping so it's not quite as good as the massdrop deal which is still available for the next 2 days.

So actiontech you think thats a good deal? Ive been on massdrop before and their price is usually subpar

Yes that's the best you're going to see for RTR I think.

Most boxes I see for sale are around $120-140 bucks. It was my understanding that the "normal" accepted price for a booster box was $85-90 bucks. I think the chase cards would be Sphinx's Revelation , Jace, Architect of Thought , and Detention Sphere , all of which are perfectly playable in other formats once rotation transpires. That seems to be a defining feature on how much boxes cost, how usable the cards are in a format other then Standard.
I expect that the price for them will shoot up a bit once RTR rotates, but not nearly as much as Innistrad did. Btw, is Innistrad still out of print? That's prime price-gauging activity if ever I saw it =/
