Is it a good idea to collect Swan Song and Thoughtseize ? Am I going to be loosing money or is it a good idea to hold on to them for a couple of years and wait for them to go up in value?
Thoughtseize im deffinetly holding onto as many as I can, since I fell theyre at a low right now for being a staple in everyformat that has swamps in it
swan song foils are worth it bc of vintage, non foil will mostly continue to be a bulk rare imo

No offense, but anyone asking whether Thoughtseize is worth holding onto has little grasp of Magic economics. Thoughtseize is a staple card in Modern and Legacy, and it sees extensive play. It will always be sought after because it is one of the best discard spells ever printed.
Swan Song is what speculators will refer to as a "safe" card. It isn't likely to explode or shrivel in value, and it's relatively cheap and available. You can scoop up dozens of them, and, if they don't appreciate in value, you can trade them away without loss of investment.
You won't be losing money with either of these cards.

I'd just like to point out that EDH and legacy players who do play Swan Song collect the foil version which is without a doubt gorgeous and thus why it is higher than normal for a "bulk rare" foil. I don't think Swan Song will be exploding in use in the eternal formats, but it's as Epoc says a "safe bet"
Thoughtseize on the other hand is bad mother of a card, gives you info on the oppositions hand, gives you selective card advantage, and can ruin people's game plans. I would highly suggest scooping them up now while they are readily available and still in production. They might drop a lil bit (if you feel like gambling) when they rotate out in 2 yrs but you want to try and get your set asap because it's such a stupid good card.

The question regarding Thoughtseize is really whether you want to start early and get them while they're still in print, or if you want to wait two years until rotation and the chance of a price dip.
Because Thoughtseize is already an eternal and Modern staple, the chances of it dipping in price are relatively low. The Theros printing may experience a very slight decline and remain at the resulting price, but I think the safety of acquiring them now (while they're most available) offsets the potential loss of investment.

Epochalyptik, I do have little grasp of Magic economins. One friend told me to hold on to my foil Hero's Downfall because it is going to go crazy stupid! I always thought that it would fall to about half of its price right now. Do you think it is going to explode of flop? Thanks all for your opinions, I will hold on to my last playset of Thoughtseize and my 5 Swan Song for some time.

Get rid of the Hero's Downfall . It's higher now than it ever will be again. It doesn't see significant play outside of Standard (only two Top 8 Modern players even ran it), and it will only increase in availability as more Theros is opened.

Swan Song is so-so, I don't see it doing much in any format anymore (there was a time I thought maybe legacy might use it in the sb, but the sideboards are so tight, very little room for it).
Thoughtseize on the other hand, the theros version is a 20-25$ card. It's low now because everyone has there, but by the time it rotates out and it stablizes after that, (A few years from now), 20-25, maybe 30 (MAYBE) is about where it'll land. Get them while they are 10-15.
