target and walmart price increases

A couple days ago I was checking out the magic cards at Target and noticed they increased the cost on all magic cards. Boosters were $4.19, intro packs were $15.99, and fat packs $41.99. I've heard Walmart has done this same. Does this mean we are in for a price increase at the lgs and comic book shops? It seems weird that these two retailers would bump up the price like this.

The owners at a few stores in the area said that the distributors were raising their prices which will eventually lead to everyone raising prices. Mass retailers obviously don't care abou selling much but I think store owners will hold out as long as possible before raising their prices on sealed product.

@vishnarg: In my experience, Walmart has always beaten LGS prices.
I did notice a while ago that boosters for older sets were becoming more expensive at Walmart.

@ Epochalyptik: My LGS sells Fat Packs for 35$, and my local Walmart sells Fat Packs for 40$. My LGS also sells Intro Packs for 13$ and Walmart has them for 15$. My LGS does 1 Pack-4$, 3 Packs-11$, and 6 Packs-20$. Walmart has packs for 1 Pack-4$, 3 Packs-12$, and 6 Packs-24$. Obviously that's not the case for you, but how much does your LGS charge for these things compared to Walmart.
On the subject of the forum, my LGS did raise the price on boxes, but that's all I know of.

Shops will most likely adjust because wizards are the ones who upped the price

My LGS has cheaper packs, intro, and fat packs. But when it comes to Commander Precons you best look somewhere else which is walmart/target. I just wish that wizards would sell Modern Masters there as well maybe for MM3? (probably not XP) :3

If the Manufacturers Suggested Retail price goes up, sellers usually follow suit, to an extent, unfortunately.

Price has been up, price your lgs pays has been up, nothing at my lgs has changed except preorders are now $95 instead of $90, after boxes are still $110 and packs $4Ea or 3/$10

My LGS mentioned that the wholesale price of magic product had recently increased. They are going to try to hold prices if they can, but it's pinching them.

mckin: 3/10$ packs and 110$ boxes with 95$ preorder...
am i the only one who pays like 120$ per box at my LGS?

My local place does pre-orders $95 per case. If I were to head up to New Hampshire I can get a case, plus six boosters for $90 tax free.

I meant to add about the place in NH, that isn't a preorder price, it is a everyday price. Which makes sense, right next door is a Bookstore/ music store that sells boosters for $3 a piece.

I doubt LGS's will adjust. They generally always beat Walmart prices.
