I was just wondering how many others have checked out the decklist for the Theros even deck and what are your thoughts on it. Strictly from a money stand point the cards are worth the cost, but does the actual deck look strong? Is it something you could tweak a little and make it really good???

Event decks are meant to be more competitive than other preconstructed products. However, I feel the deck itself is a bit underpowered. Most of your heroic creatures won't drop in until turn 3+, which puts you in an awkward spot against any fast, burn-heavy (Anger of the Gods ), or midrange decks. A Supreme Verdict resets your position. You could improve it, as you could with any deck, but I don't think it really offers the foundation you need for the cost you pay. You'd probably be able to brew a deck and trade for the pieces with less expense to your bank account. I don't play Standard, though, so take that statement with a grain of salt.
Value-wise, the majority of the value is in the Hallowed Fountain . Not much else in the deck really stacks up monetarily. It's the shock and some $1-3 rares that kind of fit the theme.

@Epochalyptik Soldier of the Pantheon is a $6 card, there are 2x Imposing Sovereign at $5 each, there are 2x Detention Sphere at $5 each, and the Hallowed Fountain is $10. That's 6 cards that have a total value of $36 which is more than the price of the deck. That's why I was saying from a monetary perspective it's worth it.
The main thing I was really wondering though, is how much tweaking would you have to do to it? I mean if you have to change the whole deck in order to really improve upon it then its not really worth it. But if there is a solid base there and all it takes are a few minor changes, then it might be something worth looking into.

I totally missed the Soldier of the Pantheon . I was going by TCG prices, though, which list Imposing Sovereign at $3, Detention Sphere at $4, and Soldier of the Pantheon at $6. You're getting some decent value, but I don't know if it's enough to justify spending the money if you don't know whether the deck will actually hold up.

I was going by SCG because I find that the most stored and people when trading typically consider them to be the standard. Also, I myself, find that the median price can be skewed quite a bit when the stores that TCG is using for that average have things overpriced because they are expecting a rise in demand for certain cards, or even when they have things underpriced because of card condition of the things they have in stock. With that being said though, even using the prices you found on TCG those six cards are valued higher than the price of the deck.
The main reason I'm not sure if the deck with actually hold up, as you put it, is because I've only really gotten back into magic over the last like 3 months after a 10+ year hiatus. So, my deck building skills are lacking making it difficult for me to judge how good a deck is based solely on the deck list. I need more of a hands on approach, physically playing and testing the deck which I can't do unless I buy it, but like I said if it's gonna require a lot of change in order to make worthwhile improvements to the deck then I don't think it's worth buying. I do have things like Phalanx Leader , Favored Hoplite , and more Soldier of the Pantheon that I can add in. Having to change the whole idea/theme of the deck in order to really make worthwhile improvements is really what I'm most concerned about.

Seems like it would be pretty good against other aggro, but helpless against midrange and control.

@djd2488 what kind of suggestions would you have to improve it?? Like I said in my other post, the thing i'm concerned about is that it will require drastic changes, but there are quite a few cards that I think are very good and could be useful in other builds as well, so I'm still debating on if it's something I should pick up.

I think its solid personally, add a few more shocklands, up detention sprhrrr to 4 and soldier of the pantheon to 4 and a some more enchants for battlewisr hoplite and fabled hero. Overall pretty good
