Thought-Knot Seer?

Thought-Knot Seer has spiked to around $15. Is this purely speculation or is there something I have completely missed? I understand that it's kinda a bad Vendilion Clique, but is it something I should hold on to or get rid of now?

It's seeing play (or will see play) in the Modern /X Eldrazi lists. The great thing about it is that it's a Thoughtseize on a 4/4 body that can easily be cast for less than its 4 mana cost.

Personally, I would guess that its price is inflated due to the prerelease being this weekend. There aren't a ton of these floating around and people who are building the Eldrazi lists want them. I think the price will go down when people actually receive their boxes this Friday and a greater amount of them (and Oath in general) have been opened.

I understand that it played really well for most in prerelease. The exile ability of Seer is a better play IMO...you get to see your opponent's hand and preempt a possible bomb probably permanently.

You are removing a resource from your opponent and not even spending a card in the same way as an instant or sorcery - in fact you get a 4/4 body too.

That's pretty fantastic.

This is the only piece I need for the new heartless deck, and missed the pre-order on this when it was 3.50. It's only going to go up from 15$, the card is broken. Being able to remove their best card after a wave of Thoughtseizes, and clear the way for ulamog ideally on the next turn is gross.

"Bad Vendilion Clique" is a pretty bad comparison. The card will probably be VERY good in several match ups, especially since the 2 fastest combo decks are out of the format now. It dodges bolt and decay which means it's hard to remove, which Clique can't claim and it's a way better blocker in exchange for the flying. I think in post-Twin modern it could find its way into several decks that it otherwise wouldn't have.

Yeah definitely, in a post twin modern larger creatures have more value than smaller ones.

I thought about playing him in Jund instead of the Huntmaster. I always hated that guy, so often he just does nothing..
But I don't know how to overcome the colorless problem. I'd play 3 Filter lands I guess..

This card is pretty awesome. I'm hoping he'll drop a little at least though. Should've gotten in on the early preorders

ChiefBell How many Quarters should I play though? :x

I think what everyone is seeing but not mentioning is that the Thought-Knot Seergives you permanent exile. They don't get it back like they do with something like Tidehollow Sculler. That's just icing on the 4/4 Eldrazi cake.

Okay, quick idea:You play b/w Eldrazi.
You have Thought-Knot Seer and Eldrazi Displacer on the battlefield. On your opponents draw step, you flicker the TKS. The opponent will draw a card, you see his hand and exile the most problematic card. Repeat as often as there is mana.

So, how long should I hold onto the foil copy I was lucky enough to snag yesterday?
