Thoughts on Whisperwood Elemental

I think this card is the real deal, at least in standard. It does turn every card in your deck into a potential creature and has built in board wipe protection so maybe there is a deck that can ramp in modern to make the 5 mana cost worthwhile but I don't know how relevant it'll be to any current archetypes so we'll see how much modern play it sees if any. Is there potential for play in other formats??

With the recent GP resullts, how high do you see this card going? I still need a couple more and would like to trade for them before they reach their peak I just don't know how available they're going to be now.

It may see play in EDH... Mayhap a weird homebrew at a Modern FNM or something, but outside of Standard it's not that good.

In comparison, Siege Rhino costs a total of 4 CMC for a 4/5 Trample that has a 3 point life swing. Much more relevant in Modern.

The card's great in standard. If you get it to stick for a turn or two, it's fantastic.

Maybe Polymorph wants it?

Definitely not. First of all, Polymorph is not green. Second of all, the only creatures in a Polymorph deck are the Emrakuls, and that's why it works so well.

The Elemental won't go far. It's too slow for Modern play and not good enough for tron-type decks.

I think that it will see enough edh play to stabilize at $5-10

for some reason I read it as enchantment not a creature...

Actually I'm not sure why I suggested Polymorph... At a point in time something added up I'm not seeing at the moment.
