Thunderbreak Regent price

Today I traded away my 2 mantis rider, Garruk Apex Predator and Chandra Pyromaster for a foil thinderbreak regent and a regular thunderbreak regent. I was wondering if this was a good trade and how likely thunderbreak regent is to hold its price?

yeah I don't see the Regent holding any sort of eternal value, whereas the aforementioned Garruk and Chandra will hold at least more eternal value than the Regent, simply because of EDH and fringe Modern/Legacy builds.

Thunderbreak Regent has made a huge splash in the Standard scene: 15 copies (mainboard) appeared in the top 8 decks from last weekends SCG Open. If it continues to appear with this consistency I would expect it to hold fairly steady, if not drop a little bit.

I think that it's going to keep going up, especially as Stormbreath Dragon and Polukranos, World Eater leave the format.
But I think this was a bad trade, you traded about $40 of value for $20ish. The good news is that you will likely make up that value over the next rotation. I think that Thunderbreak Regent will be a premier beatstick in the next standard without much similar competition.

If the right modern deck comes along TB Regent could gain some value. But I would have to agree, right now it'll probably hold steady or drop.

TCGPLAYER, I was looking at the wrong price for Garruk and that messed me up. I was juggling too many tabs.
So, ignore that sentence. I think that it'll be great for GR, BR, and Mono-Red, expect it to rise.

Its in the event deck, and gameday promo, so i think its price is limited and could also be in a clash pack going forward like courser was twice so i think where its ag for this week and the next couple is about its limit

I would expect it to hold steady where it is. It's a fantastic card in its own right, especially for Standard, but I don't know if it'll become a Modern staple.

It might top at 15-17 in my opinion just cause it will most likely replace Stormbreath Dragon after rotation.

u made a bad choice. thunderbreak is not that great of a card, and the plainswalkers will always be worth something at least for the long term. short term i think u did alright but do not hold those for 2 long imo they will only free fall at some point.

Thunderbreak will probably not go up much higher than it is now and will probably drop over time since it's the Game Day Promo. Depending on the Pro Tour and how it preforms there will probably be a good indicator of its future price. But by all means I'm no expert. Those are just my thoughts.
