To sell or not to sell, foil Chandra, Torch of Defiance?

About a month into the release of Kaladesh I happened to pull a foil Chandra, Torch of Defiance. Currently my main format I play is standard, with that being a b/g delirium deck. I plan to play my b/g delirium deck in some form until BFZ/OGW rotate out as I then lose 15 of my current cards and I may just have to swap to a new deck. So it has little use in that, currently it's just in this old Grixis control deck I had but never got around to finishing yet. Pretty much just needed the Torrential Gearhulks but that's about it. However I have been questioning that deck and was thinking of scrapping it already for something like a Dimir cycling control sort of deck with Amonkhet.

Besides this I obviously can't play it in commander for my Atraxa, Praetors' Voice deck, my Athreos, God of Passage, or Sliver Overlord deck all too well due to the lack of synergy or lacking the right colors. Besides that I'm building a Nekusar, the Mindrazer deck as well, but currently this just was going to have Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker, and possibly Dack Fayden and I'm not sure if Chandra fits.

Also no use in modern as I was only building currently towards an infect deck.

So I'm wondering whether or not I should hold onto this for later possible use in another standard deck, and at the very least it could be something I keep for trades whether or not it actually goes into a deck. Or whether I should simply sell/trade it now for something perhaps towards my modern infect. That deck needs 5 more green fetchlands, then a playset of Noble Hierarchs and 2 Pendelhavens to be pretty much done. Currently I only attend local Fnm's every week.

It's a nice card and all but I'm just doubting whether or not I should hold onto it for a future standard deck / keep it in my binder to trade for standard/modern stuff I may want from someone later. I don't think I can see its price going anything other than eventually down however is the issue. So it's probably the best choice to simply sell it now towards something for modern I was thinking.

Currently it sits at about 45 dollars, I would trade/sell it. There is a lot of potential for her, but if she hasn't broken into mainstream eternal decks yet, she will surely plummet. Then you can use some of your money from that to buy another if you want it that bad. My rule of thumb is that if you question a lot if you will use it, you most likely won't.

I've never done trading through TappedOut but if you're willing to wait til after amonkhet is spoiled I might have some stuff you'd like. ToD is my favorite planeswalker and I don't have a foil copy yet.

Not to highjack, but Zaueski, you should start! The trading community here is pretty healthy and easygoing

I agrew with 2austin5 on both points. She is not seeing any play, and she's going to drip if that trend continues.

I also agree that your should begin trading here, Zaueski. The community here is incredible!

Well then can you link me to an article explaining how to do it and what safety measures are in place?

You pulled it a month after Kaladesh released? Why the hell didn't you sell it then? It was worth almost $100!

I mean yeah sell or trade it now since it's never gonna be worth more than $45, but shit... Next time, get rid of any expensive foils you get of something that just came out if you're not gonna use it. I got rid of my Ensnaring Bridge the second I got it from my AER prerelease when it was $130, and now it's worth $80! Basic economics, man...

I should have bothered to mention this I now realize KillDatBUG that I and many others go by different prices in my local area since I rather live in Canada and not the US, and so rather than TCG etc we use another store generally.

You may never have heard of the store, but it's called Face to Face games anyways. From their prices anyways it was at its highest $80 CAD or $60 USD but has since dropped to $60 or in your case about $45 on their site. I held onto it since then thinking I may end up using it in a casual superfriends deck for Fnm standard or maybe trading it towards one of the numerous masterpiece cards but I never did. I'm still going to sell it probably now however anyways, even though you are still right in the fact that I should have decided sooner.

I have however opened other valuable cards in the last 2 years that I have been better on deciding to part with sooner. These included a Windswept Heath expedition, a Prairie Stream expedition, Fetid Heath expedition and a Sword of Feast and Famine masterpiece. I just waited a bit too long in either case for this particular one. I will admit I never was aware previously how much this Chandra went for in US prices, apparently at its peak it was valued by them a lot more than it ever was here, and so I will in the future look around a bit more at prices elsewheres to see if I can ever get a better deal on selling stuff.
