Voice of Resurgence what's going to happen to the price post rotation

blackmarker90 says... #2

Down, it doesn't see wide enough play in non rotating formats

$5 or so I think. Maybe 8.

Its played quite a lot in pod in modern actually. I would expect between 5 and 10 dollars. It wil always be worth a little.

I'm on the train with everyone else saying around $5 is going to be the post rotation price. There just isn't $30 (or even $18) worth of demand from anyone except standard players.

It's mythic, which means there are less in circulation than some even less played Modern Rares that have been sitting at $10. I'm saying between $10-15.

Ranger of Eos sees play as a 1-of in some Pod decks and as a 4-of in Martyr Life and has actually risen to about $13.50. Voice sees more play than that and is rarer. It may take a while, but I think it will eventually have a slight rise to about $15. It's a good card.

I'm assuming that "post rotation" was referring to September - March as opposed to 5 years from now when standard players are no longer trying to sell them off.

Post rotation refers to the time after which it rotates. Meaning 6 months from now or 6 years from now. This is an economics thread. It'd be silly for us to just discuss the price of a card during the first 6 months after it rotates out.

Oh well then, a plummet to around $5 and then a constant up slope until they reprint it and it falls down a bit because the supply has been increased. I thought that the fact that it is modern playable would imply that it would go on a constant upslope after the sell off from standard players were no more are added to the available number.

The only reason it will see a dramatic fall in price right at rotation is because it will over saturate the market. It sees play in, like, 1 standard deck right now (GW Aggro is really the only viable one, maybe Naya Aggro) and is at $18.50 mid price on TCGPlayer. It's a rare card, but it's also very much Modern playable so I highly doubt it will drop a lot, or even for a long time.

Love the card. I doubt it'll drop nearly as much as this thread says and rise quite a bit next modern season.

I didn't predict that courser would fall as much as it did. Predicted 15 dollar low and it's currently at 12!

Modern, "post-rotation" predictions are very different from Standard predictions.

I don't see Voice staying much below $10 for long. It may drop post rotation a little bit, but it will come back up. Keep in mind that it sees only fringe Standard play. Most of the demand for the card comes from Modern, where it's commonly run in Pod, Junk, and Hatebears. Add in the fact that's it's a mythic in a rarely drafted/opened set, and you have decent demand with relatively low supply. I wouldn't expect any drastic price crashes.

@kmcree Hit the nail on the head.

trentfaris242 - Courser is a card with significant modern interest.

July 29, 2014 1:37 p.m.

Not to highjack the thread, but @ChiefBell Courser of Kruphix was an amazing addition to modern BGx decks when UWR Control was the dominant deck right after the pro tour it won and leading in to Richmond. Since then the format has shifted to very combo heavy and creature heavy. Courser while a great card has seen declined use since it is clunky at 3 and isn't high impact enough when facing combo oriented decks. Great in grindy games, but is more of a 2 of now in lists.
