My Elspeth, Sun's Champion for a Thoughtseize and a Sylvan Caryatid . What do you think of this trade?

I probably wouldn't do it. Elspeth, Sun's Champion is a high-profile staple right now. While Thoughtseize is also sought-after, I think I'd rather have the Elspeth, Sun's Champion .

Of course, I'm assuming you have other opportunities to trade the Elspeth, Sun's Champion . If you aren't getting anywhere with it, I suppose this isn't an awful trade. I would probably try to get some more Modern or eternal value in place of the Sylvan Caryatid , though.

The Sylvan Caryatid does throw this trade off and makes it 'uneasy'. I wouldn't pull the trigger on this unless I could move the Sylvan Caryatid now or need it for a deck or Thoughtseize is the same, if you need it now or can get some great stuff by getting it in your hands now, maybe I might pull the trigger. If you can get good eternal value instead of the Sylvan Caryatid , get it and ts and be happy. The real question is how much do you want either card and since you're asking, probably not that much.

I use Elspeth, Sun's Champion in my Esper control deck, I can always buy another in a near future (I don't think her price will rise much more).Thoughtseize would be more of a long term card, I can use it in my deck as well and trade it if it's price rises again (I hope it will).

I think the main question is "what format(s) do you play?" If you mainly play standard and plan on actually using Thoughtseize and Sylvan Caryatid for a while, then I'd say go for it. There's no telling if Elspeth, Sun's Champion will hold value throughout its time in Standard, but I bet Thoughtseize and Sylvan Caryatid will maintain.
If you play Modern/Legacy, then I suggest going with Epochalyptik and try to get something other than Sylvan Caryatid .

As far as I'm aware of he only has theros cards. This is what he has:
white, 3 Heliod, God of the Sun, 2 Chained to the Rocks, 3 Spear of Heliod.
blue: 2 Thassa, God of the Sea, 1 Bident of Thassa, 2 Bident of Thassa (PROMO).
black: 1 Thoughtseize, 3 Nighthowler
red: 3 Anger of the Gods, 2 Hammer of Purphoros.
green: 2 Arbor Colossus, 2 Boon Satyr, 1 Mistcutter Hydra, 1 Sylvan Caryatid.
multi: 2 Daxos of Meletis, 2 Fleecemane Lion, 3 Prophet of Kruphix, 2 Reaper of the Wilds.
I play only standard, esper control. The Sylvan Caryatid would be for a deck I might build in the future, so I currently don't need it.What do you think I could do for a better trade?
this is my deck: Esper control FNM. I run one Elspeth, Sun's Champion and a Thoughtseize .

Ask if he has anything else available. If not, I say skip it. You don't need to trade something out of your deck to pick up something smaller (and less rare) and a $5 equalizer.

what's Reaper of the Wilds going for? If you can, a Fleecemane Lion and the reapers, I Think should be about 6$ (Which I think is the amount you're looking to cover), long term spec is g/w isn't out yet and the lion will play a role. The reaper has the best potential of any card 'not on the radar' right now, b/g rock should be back with her driving the van. I would work on getting all 4 of those + Thoughtseize . and prioritize reaper over the lion.

IS Elspeth, Sun's Champion coming out of your deck? if so, no, no, no. Only if she's extra.

If you're using Elspeth in a deck, don't trade her away. She's one of Esper's best win cons in Standard right now, and given that you're playing control, you kinda need her.

you say you can just buy a new one in the near future, but if that's the case then your better off just buying the Thoughtseize , They're both about the same price, and I actually think that Thoughtseize might be a couple bucks cheaper right now. I just think it would make more sense to keep the card that's harder to get and being used in your deck right now, and purchase the other

long term good, elspeth probably won't see much eternal play and though seize does.
