What happened to Omniscience?

Did I miss something? Omniscience is suddenly nearly a $40 card... It was $19 on May 30 by TCG mid and now it's $37... I was already lamenting the fact that I didn't pick it up last fall when it was going near $10 just to have it. Does anyone know if there's a (real) reason for the sudden 100% price increase?

Chris Vanmeter just played it at a Legacy open I believe, so it maybe hype because Omnitell did good.

I have also heard that Omnitell has been doing well in Legacy so the price has been going up slowly. I remember seeing them at $10 and now I am sad because I am building omnitell...

I just traded mine for $17. Granted, I picked it up when it was $5 and I traded it for modern staples I actually needed. Still stings a bit.

Whoa, didn't realise they had shot up like that! I picked mine up about a year ago for $6! (converted from GBP that is).

Vendors at GP Vegas essentially had a bidding war over getting the most and it raised the price in them. One vendor specifically was paying $30 for them on the GP floor. Word got out on the internet about the prices and TCG soon followed.

mathimus55 I was wondering if something like that happened... It was $19 on Saturday and then almost $38 on Monday on TCG. Things like that don't just happen without something specifically driving the jump.

Yea, from looking at Twitter it looked like one financial guy(Nick Becvar, quite the tool btw)claimed one specific vendor didn't matter so the vendor decided to prove him wrong.

Wow. I traded a standard staple (when Omniscience was in standard) for one, at a loss, like four dollar loss.

That card I traded is probably only five bucks now, maybe ten when I traded it.

I made bank, I guess.

Yeah, I traded for mine when it was like $10. Dayum.

This is what happens when I impulse buy cards, I seem to get hilarious profits (Golgari Grave-Trolls @ $.75, Snapcaster Mage @ $25).
