What happened with Chalice?

So yesterday I was reading some articles and found a few legacy lists that looked nice. Half of them used Chalice of the Void so I looked up the price. Seems like someone successfully did a buyout, and now instead of being $6-8 now they're $15-20! When I checked yesterday they were sold out on starcity and tcgplayer, now you only see the higher price. I feel like these price manipulators are really trying to keep the legacy threshhold out of reach for the casual-competitive player like myself. On a side note, Smash to Smithereens is spiking hard, so if you have a bunch of those gathering dust it may be time to unload them....

The price isn't being manipulated like you assume, it's simple supply and demand. Chalice is pretty good right now in both formats it is legal in. That will cause the price to jump
