Seriously. I'm a high schooler looking to build Soul Sisters, I really can't shell out $40 a piece for them. And I honestly can't understand why they're so expensive. According to mtgtop8, it was in 2/255 modern decks this past month, and not played in any other format. So why the f*** is it still worth $40!?!?!

I think it sees play in legacy Death and Taxes.

Anywho it's a useful rare those tend to rise over time even if they're not fantastic. Might have been a buyout too.

Came from a set that wasn't opened a lot, hasn't been reprinted, and has built in protection. That pretty much sums it up. Still ridiculous tho.

It has 1 printing and it's a 4 of in soul sisters. It's also a fairly strong card for . When/if it gets reprinted it will fall to under $20, but until then, sorry, that's Modern for you.

Fifth Dawn was also a small set.

I once sold 3 auriok champions for about a dollar each in store credit several years ago. I bitterly regret that decision now haha.

It does not see play in Legacy Death and Taxes but it is priced as such becasue of a limited print run, unique set of attributes and mostly casual appeal. You can build Soul Sisters without the card and also, not every card in every deck should be affordable to people in high school - treat MTG like an investment and you will cherish and enjoy playing with those expensive cards a lot more.

For example, it was a long road to complete my Death and Taxes list for Legacy, especially when Karakas was double its current price and the other 8 non-basic lands were triple digits too, but it was quite worth it and I enjoyed the experience of playing with and against expensive cards.

It's a single printing card that is a 4 of in the decks it's played in. It's a rare. If was a little opened opened set. It's also an amazing 2 drop. That's what's up with the $38 price tag. Rediculous? A little bit, but it makes sense.

Are you sure you didn't also check sideboards because it's a pretty good sideboard card also.
