What to buy?

After using Puca trade for a week or two now I finished upgrading my modern event deck. I have about 7000 puca points currently which is about equal to $70. I was wondering what should I buy? I was thinking of building an EDH deck but after trading some pretty expensive cards that I didn't need I don't want to just buy casual fun cards that are sure to lose value. I was also debating buying shocks/fetches but I do not have much of a use for them right now. I don't want to spend my points on things I can't really use. Is it worth it to start to build another modern deck such as Mono-U tron or Merfolk? Thanks to anyone who helps.

I would combine two of your options and build a commander deck and use your puca points for the shocks/fetches to give it a solid mana base.

I agree with Gidgetimer. investing in the mana base first is the most logical as the shocks and fetches will only go up in value (not counting if the zendikar fetches see a reprint). So they are a safe bet to hold value and have usefulness. I would buy the khans fetches though because they are still low by comparison and if the zen fetches get a reprint they will drop like a stone for a while before starting to climb again.

If you have $70 value the first thing I'd do is "buy" a FOIL Flooded Strand or FOIL Polluted Delta. Or at least a playset of a fetch or shock, both are low now it's a pretty damn safe buy.

You could think about getting into Legacy too. Although it never feels as good to trade away all those points for a single Show and Tell or something similar, you'll know it's a safe bet as far as not losing value.

The choice is yours really. What makes more sense to you. Building a deck you'll play constantly and have fun, both building and playing. Stock piling in the hopes of turning your collection into cash and or having good trade value in the future for those cards you want, but can't get? Or do you want to trade for cards, you want but have in your binder just to show off? That's the real question. Once you answer this, you'll know what to buy.
Each person's goal is different and there is no correct answer for this. Yours should be your own, not mine or any one else's..
