What to do with a foil monastery mentor?

So, I haven't had many opportunities to open fate reforged, but I grabbed a pack yesterday and opened a bunch of good stuff, including a foiled Monastery Mentor... In all honesty, I'm not quite sure what to do with it. I'm not used to thinking of the economic value of cards and my playgroup is intensely casual, so I'm not terribly confident in my read of what cards are going to do... Is this thing going to retain it's price/go up over the long term, or should I think about trying to move it? Essentially: keep or try to offload? I appreciate the help of everyone's collective experience with these sorts of things!

I recommend that you sell it... it doesn't see any modern (or legacy or vintage [lul]) play. And then you use that money to buy me cards. Fair!

I think Jayfeather's point is extremely valid, and don't forget when you sell them to think of us and our helpful advice

It's tough to say. Fate Reforged has only been available for a month so there are limited tournament results to look at. It didn't really show up strong at the PT but a lot of that could have been people reverting back to the B/G/x decks that they were familiar with. I know there are lots of people brewing with it in multiple formats, so if one of those decks has a strong showing and is viable from week to week then the price of the foils will at worst retain value. Until people get enough time to completely brew and test with him any information you get now is purely speculation.

With that being said, the safe play is probably to unload it. Like I said, even in limited time it hasn't really shown up in any kind of strong numbers. For it to retain or gain value it's play would have to increase tremendously in the amount of play it sees. Another thing to consider is that FNM brewers might be avoiding it right now because of the price. That would mean that even if it starts to see a lot of play it's not going to be until it's price settles down to something the market is willing to pay. While it's very possible that Monastery Mentor see lots of play in standard and other formats. It's probably safe to assume that it's price will drop some before that happens. So to gain any value from where it's at now, not only does it need to show up in high numbers at tournaments but, it would also have to recover from any price drop it sees from now until it see play.
