What To Do With Cards

Hello, it's been a while since I've posted here. I live nearby a huge store at my college, but I've only played there twice.
With that said, I haven't played Magic since August 2015 when I came to college. I told myself I was going to sell my cards before they lost value, but I still have them, and I kick myself because of how much they've gone down.
I was wondering what the best thing is to do with them. I also play guitar which can get expensive, so I want to let these cards go to fund that or flip them for something bigger that would be easier to sell down the road. I think it would be easier to sell a few cards than a lot of staples (they were staples when I played in 2015).
Is it best to trade the cards in for credit and pick up a Mox or something else on the Reserved List or just get cash for them?
I don't need the cash immediately, however.
The only thing holding me back is I feel I might want to get back into it some point down the road.
I apologize if this is in the wrong board.

I'm sure if you made a sell post on here people would buy some.
I ageee with Dredgar though.

Okay, I'll think about doing that. The only issue I have with selling online is it's time-consuming. I don't have the time I used to in high school.

If you want the most money, sell them as singles (this is also the most time consuming because you have to find people for all the cards)
You can try to sell them online as one purcahse (you wont make as much because you have to find somebody willing to pay and take all the cards)
the card shop pays the least because they have to pay people to man the store and mark prices on everything
That being said you could probably find a fair amount of people willing to buy stuff on here

The least time consuming way to sell online is this site. Just fill up your binder and make posts that you're selling everything in your binder and for people to post their offer and what they want. That way you don't have to continually cater to people, just let them come to you. You can also post your binder URL on other sites you're trying to sell on so that they can just click on that and it automatically takes them to your binder so you don't have to continually list what you have.

Then put the cards in a sleeve and toplader, write the address on the envelope/bubble mailer depending on value and drop it at the post office. Or you can do like I do and buy a lot of stamps at once, and stick it in your mailbox.

If you can, sit on the valuble ones for a few years. If you want to use them, you can use them. If you want to sell them, they'll be worth more.

I downsized my collection about a year ago due to not having the time to play with the cards I once loved. What I found easy for me was joining a local forum community on Facebook for magic players around my area. Not sure if you have the ability to do this, but I had an individual interested in my entire collection in a day. I would recommend attempting to sell locally to players first and never sell to card shops since they are looking to make a profit and won't take anything in at standard market price.

I have to agree with Atony1400. Unless you're strapped for cash, there's not a whole lot of reason to not just sit if your cards have gone down in value.
Basically, it's better to be mindful of the value of your cards and to pay attention to spikes. Stuff like Blackcleave Cliffs or Adarkar Wastes were under $2 a few years ago, and have since spiked. The same is true for stuff like Mishra's Bauble, Street Wraith, or Devoted Druid.
Things that appear to have no value can randomly spike due to changes in formats, bannings, or new combos. Hell, my buddy back in high school bought a Show and Tell from the $1 box at a local shop because the card was unplayable until more powerful creatures were printed.

I personally would sell them to anyone but a card shop. You won't get anywhere near their worth there. Sell online, locally post it etc....
