When Should I Buy Cryptic Command?

I'm looking to buy at least two Cryptic Command and I was wondering if anyone had any advise on when/where to buy them from. Will they drop more? If so, by how much?
Thanks! :)

Now wouldn't be a horrible time to buy. There will be no 'second wave', and soon (couple of months, maybe) speculators are going to start snatching up whatever boxes are left.

There will be a second wave. Wizards confirmed that they will continue to meet orders of Modern Masters for the time being, meaning many more Commands will flood the market.

Got to be careful here. I've heard conflicting reports, but from what I understand it goes something like this.
Yes Wizards is continuing to meet orders, but it's something like Here have 12 more boxes a week, compared to original orders of like 200 boxes.
So... there's a cap on what "meeting orders" means. It's far from unlimited. There's just a trickle after the initial release.
How long that trickle is going to last is anybody's guess. I think you could really go either way here. Stuff might keep going down or it might stabilize and start going back up really soon now.
I think the best advice, as always, is buy it NOW if you're going to be using it now. If you're just buying it to have it, then sure... it can wait while you see what the price does.

JRaynor: The trickle is coming from the fact that they over-ordered for the GPs, I believe- so they're shunting the extras into the primary market. However, these extras don't amount to much compared to the 'original run', so it's not something to buy around.

As far as I understand, slovakattack is correct about the "second wave". However, I agree with vishnarg in that many packs are going to be opened at GP Vegas, Utrecht, and Chiba, thus introducing far more Cryptics into the market. Especially at a rare, I expect Cryptic to drop in price after the GP.

They have confirmed that they will not stop orders and will continue to meet demand for a while yet. They will actually announce when they plan to finish printing. Now, when they announce the end prices may go sky high again. So I would say wait a little - but don't be risky!

Twitter. They said essentially - we are printing more, you can keep ordering, we will tell you when we are about to stop (one month in advance).

Buy em now. I just got out of GP Vegas, and here's what I saw:
Drafting was so dope that everyone wanted to keep doing it. People could easily open enough value to buy list their cards at vendors and do more drafts. Vendors mostly had pretty bad buylist prices, and even worse resale prices. They know prices are headed up. The goal was not to sell their stock at the GP, the goal was to sell enough of their stock to afford to hoard as many MM2 staples as possible to hold onto for when their prices return to those of the original printings. The market is not nearly as flooded as you think, all the large stores are holding these cards.
Also, Tarmogoyfs were not heavily opened. They already jumped in value over the weekend, get em now if you need them.

Im not sure the price of rares has bottomed out but Im pretty sure mythics won't go down much. Goyf is back on the up actually.

Cryptic Command held its price for the whole weekend, with 3 GPs going on, one of which had over 8,000 people. If the market isn't at its max capacity now, I'd be extremely surprised. There is no time ever that MM2 will be opened in the capacity that it just was. I'm not saying it can't drop a little bit, but I say 35 is the floor. No reason to risk it here

looking at the original modern masters price curve link for the lazy, that cryptic dropped off initially then held its price until it spiked. I expect 32-35 to be the bottom until the market drives it back into the 40-50s+. that being said, i just traded into my playset off pucatrade.

I would hold off because there will be more available than people want, but that's just my opinion.
June 1, 2015 2:45 p.m.
vishnarg I think you are incorrect. Even if people don't need these staples, they are good to have and they will not be getting less expensive. Look at noble hierarch. Immediately when MM2 was released, the card dropped to 28 dollars. It then started going back up. Before the Grand Prixs last weekend, the card was at 37 dollars. Today, after thousands of packs have been opened everywhere? It's at $38.5. There isn't going to be a drop, or a mass sell, or anything like that. Waiting for these to drop even further is a pipe dream.

Wow, thanks for all the responses guys. :)
Does anyone have any idea where I should buy from? Cryptic's sitting at $35 on Channel Fireball, $39 on Starcity and as low as $33.50 on TCG Player. From what I've seen over the past few days, it's stayed the same on Channel, dropped by a dollar over the last 48 hours on Starcity and has gone up about a dollar on TCG over the last few days. I have no idea what I'm talking about when it comes to MTG finance so help would be great. :)
I'm thinking of buying over the next few days, still reasonably undecided though. :)

I usually do Ebay/10000+ sold (with a high approval rating) on TCGplayer.

Do a search and monitor ebay for a day or so until you've made your decision. If nothing pops up I'd recommend just taking the plunge and picking them from Channel Fireball. You can't really complain at $35. Even if it drops another couple bucks before rising again, You're looking at it being 20 dollars cheaper than it was a month ago. It's already sitting at $40 on Coolstuffinc and they're generally very close to Starcity and Channel Fireball from the times I've checked prices across the board.

I would absolutely wait more. There's still much MM2 to be opened, and the card is seeing very little play in modern at the moment, so it has a ways to go downwards in my opinion.
