I've got a followup question to tack on if you don't mind me doing so.

What does everyone think of Voice of Resurgence right now in standard? I'm actually struggling with keeping them in my G/W build right now which is something I never thought I'd do...

Voice of Resurgence should match up well against storm and maybe dredge but idk for sure because I am new to Legacy.

It seems like Voice of Resurgence is in every G/W deck purely for value. He does somewhat hose decks that cast stuff during your turn, like Epser or U/W control. Similarly MBD can't Devour Flesh on your turn b/c Voice just pops out a token you can sac. Obviously there are ways around Voice, but it's still a 2/2 for 2 that's hard to remove and NOT have the controller get value.

To be fair, one of the former R&D memebers said during Pro Tour Theros that there are some cards that were made to fight voice. The example he gave was Last Breath , so Voice does have some effective answers.

@Awsumcrewchief I couldn't really give you an answer for your question... but Spootyone as for yours I would say leave it in. The 3 biggest decks at pro events are Mono Black, Mono Blue, and Esper/azorious control. That means a lot of other local players are going to be playing similar decks trying to replicate their success. Mono Black uses lots of removal and simply having a voice in play forces them to use it on their turn which can set them back a turn or two and give you a better chance to beat them before they eventually stabilize with life gain. Voice also helps shut down control decks. It's tough to remove/counter creatures if them doing so also creates another creature (the token). Also, ever since I started playing my G/B deck, I've noticed a lot more golgari decks making an appearance. Those decks can go two ways, one is using lots of removal, which means they're in the same boat as mono black. The other, uses a lot of graveyard interactions and has a little bit of removal. That means they can't cast Grisly Salvage at the end of your turn to search for a creature and fill their graveyard without giving you a free token, and it also sets them back if they want to use their removal. All in all, while Voice of Resurgence may not have quite the same effect on a lot of decks like it did pre-theros, it still definitely hurts things in the current meta as well, so it's effects are definitely not wasted.

The main reasons why voice is so expensive right now is mostly due to it being in a few modern decks and being such a good card that no standard player wants to trade them away, just in case the few decks playing it in standard becomes especially strong.

I think it should hold it's value for the most part, but it's been slowly sliding since release though. It sees decent enough play in Modern, but I think the biggest note for it is that Dragon's Maze was pretty lightly opened as it was less popular set and even lighter in draft due to triple pack format.

After Standard, Voice will definitely see play in eternal formats. It's been seeing heavy play in Modern Pod from what I've seen, and I don't expect that to change. Right before it rotates out, it will see a significant drop because Standard-loyal players will be trying to get rid of theirs while still seeing some return on it. However, whether it goes back up or continues to drop down is a waiting game.

I for one think it's going to drop. The demand is obviously going to go down due to the majority of magic players playing Standard, which will more than likely be a determining factor.

He'll drop, but not as far as he should, mainly because it's a mythic rare from a small set that wasn't opened a lot. Post standard I see him being a 15-20$ rare . As stated he's used in modern he sees play in pod and hatebears, in legacy some play in maverick and that's it. Other decks occassionally use him (like modern junk), a good comparison might be Linvala, Keeper of Silence which is a mythic from a large 3rd set, rise of eldrazi, She sees play in the same decks, but isn't the chase mythic in the set, is 25-30$. The reason for voice being cheaper, is the numbers for decks including linvala is greater than the ones using voice. According to mtgtop8.com, 9 decks in legacy use linvala compared to the 2 for voice.252 modern decks use linvala, while 192 decks use voice.
