So i have a foil card:skitheryx, the blight dragon which is currently at about $77. I imagine this is because of how popular it is in edh and more casual modern. A friend offered 4 Inkmoth Nexus for it which currently clocks in at about $72 dollars.

Which of the 2 do u think will hold up in value more overtime? I dont really play either

Infect is unlikely to return, so Inkmoth Nexus & Skitheryx are not gonna get reprinted soon. I assume both will go up over time.

If neither do, I'd imagine the foil Skittles (taste the rainbow!) gets more expensive on average, unless infect returns in modern or legacy as a prominent deck. I'd take the trade and risk it, however I think it'd be safer not to.

Then again, if some 'From the Vault'-like product (FtV was discontinued) was made, I'd imagine Skittles would be reprinted first... so it is really hard to say.

I would take the trade but try to edge out 5 dollars too to be fair to current prices. Still may take the trade w/o 5 dollars... but it is difficult to say.

Using these looks like the dragon is slightly going up with Inkmoth Nexus staying flat. Your call though. Sorry tried linking but it didn't work.

Infect has been hit hard, but it is literally one card away from being the bees knees once again. So modern horizons or anything like that could put it back on the map. And those lands are still played in most affinity builds. These lands will stay level, but can spike hard if that hypothetical card is printed.

The dragon has EDH value only and will steadily creep up with time, but will never spike.

So, this is a bird in the hand versus 2 birds in the bush scenario, and those birds in the bush may or may not be there.

I would keep the dragon.

Edh foils can be hard to move in trade. Skittles even more so since it’s technically not a staple. Inkmoth is a staple in infect which sees play in modern and legacy and is always a card off from becoming a tier 1 deck. With modern horizons coming up, I’d take the playset of inkmoths as they have a higher upside. However it’s close so ultimately I’d go with whatever you will play the most :). If it’s a value thing alone, I’d keep skittles if it’s mint and trade if it’s LP or worse.

definitely take the trade, especially if your friend is willing to throw in an additional $5 worth of cards. the Skithiryx is only good in commander, if the deck can even use black. inkmoth can be used in competitive modern in any color combo the player wants. even if decks specifically meant for infect never make a huge comeback, theres still the possibility of Affinity or Hardened Modular, both of which use infect as an alternative win condition.

I would absolutely take the trade, regardless of what I might want to play.

  1. If I’m interested in playing the lands, it’s a done deal.
  2. If I’m interested in playing Skittles, I can easily turn the lands into a non foil version that won’t warp on me (and have some value left over)
  3. If I’m interested in playing neither, Inkmoths will be far easier to trade into other things than a foil EDH card
