On tcgplayer they're around $125 and on Ebay they are around $120. I normally don't pre order stuff but is that why the price seems inflated? Or is the set just that good? My birthday is a few days after the set comes out so I really want a box but I'm not paying extra just to get it early
Additionally, in 2019 WoTC removed MSRP from MTG products, giving retailers more leeway in how they want to price retail packs etc (at least in the US).
Couple that with the above points, and we have a confluence of factors raising prices.

For a box? Of 36 packs?
Nah that's normal pricing. Might actually even be a tad low.
Also not to detract, but happy birthday!

MTGGoldfish complies the regular market price for various products - link. The $120 price tag is comparable to the present $120 price tag on Dominaria Untied booster boxes and is not too far off from $111 for Commander Legends and $109 for New Capenna.
Products are generally getting more expensive due to increased production costs - the paper and printing industry was hit particularly hard by covid-related supply chain problems and has not fully recovered. Combined with increasing popularity of Magic and inflation generally, there has been a general upward trend in product prices.
