why isn't Reaper of the Wilds worth more?

Yes I get its a four drop, so no modern or much legacy but with constant killings of other creatures and even some protection from kill spells and deathtouching major threats, why isn't it worth more?! It's SUCH a great card!
Like you said it's a 4 drop plus it was printed in Jace vs Vraska which makes it easily obtainable

and in standard everyone seemed to prefer Desecration Demon as a 4 drop anyways. I thought they were good too, but really yea with what they said and the stuff you pointed out, the question is answered. Not seeing play anywhere but kind of occasionally standard means its worthless.

I think it'll go up a little post-rotation, but it'll still be competing with Polukranos, World Eater for deck slots.

The problem with Reaper of the Wilds is that unless you wait to have more mana you're actually playing a vanilla 4/5 and you'd just rather have a bigger threat or something with more immediate impact. The stats are decent, it dodges a bunch of 4 damage spells, the scry is nice and it can protect itself, but the deathtouch is a little awkward though, there's not much that a 4/5 isn't already tangling with. Even if you get to untap with it it's not that big a deal. It doesn't put a whole ton of pressure. So not only is is competing with other 4 drops for the slot, like Polukranos, World Eater . It's also pseudo-muscling in on space for higher CMC cards, where is really starts to get out classed.

I wouldn't be surprised if she goes up post-rotation. Turn three Polukranos, World Eater off of Sylvan Caryatid into turn four Reaper of the Wilds . Some decks might even prefer Reaper of the Wilds because of the scry. BUG Control comes to mind. She actually saw more play than Polukranos, World Eater at Pro Tour: Journey into Nyx. Although, she made only 2 top 8 appearances, while Polukranos, World Eater saw 3.
It's definitely a card I'm speculating on. Picking up a few for $1 or less isn't a bad idea, IMO.

Reaper of the Wilds is going to go up. About September 28th, by my estimate.

I hope so, I have about 20, 25 foils in a binder somewhere, along with hero's downfalls. Cause if kahns doesn't have much black removal, it's gonna be the only good option.

I've tried playing the card in Jund and Golgari decks coming to the conclusion it's just meh. Slycne summed up the reasons perfectly.
In regards to it's price: It was printed in a heavily opened set and a Duel Deck making it widely available and a poor spec.

You know what else was in a Duel Deck? Polukranos, World Eater and Hellrider . Both of those sat at $5 when their Duel Decks were in Standard.
Reaper of the Wilds is probably safe at $0.75 a copy. If they hit $2, you make a lot. If they hit $5, you make a ton.
At worse, you break even trading them back as $0.75 rares.

You answer your own question when you take that bit about not seeing play in Modern and Legacy and combine it with the fact that it doesn't see extensive play in Standard.
