Will Ugin, the Spirit Dragon stay at $38?

I am wanting to use it in my standard deck but I was wondering if anyone thinks it will drop anytime soon in value or become a modern staple and jump even higher?
I don't think he will stay at the TCGPlayer price it is right now. I think, when it rotates out of Standard, drop somewhat, to about $20. He is not as useful as Karn Liberated, but he is a colorless Planeswalker that fits in ANY EDH deck simply because he has no color identity. I think he will be a good pick-up once he rotates out if you are not a Standard player.

I posted a forum like this when he was at $28. I'm still so shocked.

Its a bad ass card but we are seeing price increases across the board because of summer employment.

he is actually very very powerful in R/G tron. if you're playing against bogles,or any deck full of low cost creatures, and you get him out its almost a guaranteed win with his minus ability. his plus 2 is also very viable and unlike karn his ult is actually very useful and is a game-changer. i think people have been underestimating him and i think he will definitely stick in tron, the whole complaint about him costing 8 instead of 7 is ridiculous.

if i had to guess his value in the long run im going to guess that he will stabilize somewhere between $35 to $40,just a guess though.

So basically in standard Ugin may not drop below $30-$25?

i mean he says heavy play in standard and is proving himself in a very prominent modern deck.

He won't drop below $20 at least. He is so good in EDH that people will want him as soon as his price goes down.
Also if you need him for a deck, go for it. He will still be in Standard for over a year, so no need to hold back.

Thanks for the advice I did manage to score 1 copy for $25 today.

He will drop after rotation, not by to much. But probably to around 15-25. There might be a drop in price during his standard tenure, but that is dependant on his viability in the decks being played. His drop will however be small if it happens during the standard season, his trend will likely resemble Elspeth's if the decks he is most common in replace him with a new walker or they fall out of fashion. The power of the card is still high enough that any drop will be rather small if it comes as most players will still hold on to him in hopes he finds a new home in standard. EDH and Modern will ensure him a relatively high price post rotation.

Who determines when a card falls out of fashion ? I don't pay attention to Starcity opens or GP's. I build my own decks and play casual with friends.

Its not that it will fall out of fashion its all dependent on the decks it is being played in. Since it is being played in tron it gives it some value,it is played in edh so it has value there,it is used in standard so there's even more value. Now once it rotates out of standard it will lose some of its value and by some I mean probably just a little and as long as its played in other formats it's price may jump back up.

I know he won't drop much under $15.00 (hoping?), but I don't need him anytime soon for any decks, so I can certainly wait for rotation. That said, if you can score him at $25 now, and will use him, I'd advise grabbing one or two more if he's what you need.

Prooooooobably not. I do expect that he'll stay at around 10 or so though because of his use in Tron.
