Wise decision? - I traded away my Karn Liberated for a foil Spellskite

So I wanted to trade away my single copy of Karn Liberated (plus a Chromatic Star) to someone who was looking for one, and the only interesting thing in his binder was a foil Spellskite
.
My question would be if that was a good decision on my side for long term value. I know Karn is a mythic, but being foil kinda cancels that out, right? I have mixed feelings.
I think it's a completely reasonable trade. There are a lot more applications for a spellskite than a Karn. Both are good. Foil v Mythic. Awesome stuff. And the foil Spellskite will make for some awesome trade fodder.

I'd say it was. Unless you ever decide someday to build Tron, you'll use Spellskite more often for modern.

They were both MM2 versions. To be honest though, I already own a playset of Spellskite, so this one is staying in the trade binder.

I would swap the foil one out of the binder for a normal one if you are wanting to wait on it to see if it appreciates well, or if 4 spellskites aren't in one of your sideboards maybe put a normal one next to it so you don't turn away people who are just looking for non foil ones or people who might be interested in the foil (that is if you are trying to move it right away)

kmcree Why is Karn less likely to see another reprint? I would think it would be the other way around considering Skites Phyrexiam mana requirement.

I would say it was a reasonable decision. Karn may have a slightly better upside longterm, since he is less likely to be printed in a non limited release set, but having a foil copy of a Modern sideboard staple is certainly never a bad thing. Ultimately, it comes down to whichever you will use more. If you'll use the Spellskite then the trade was fine.
