Ok, so i'm someone who doesn't have a budget and is someone who is into MTG.. Of course, I'll buy the cards that I want.. but how do we think Archangel of Tithes, Demonic Pact, and Goblin Piledriver are going to do in prices? They seem like the most interesting cards so far. (Willing to buy to make a profit, thats why im here asking these questions)

I dont think demonic pact will ever be played you have to win in 4 turns after playing it or lose. Archangel of tithes seems good possible for control? Its one of those cards I dont think has a shell yet but could be good. Goblin piledriver is already really expensive I heard and I dont see it going much over 20 so I dont think its worth buying into right now but thats just me. Take my info with a grain of salt just my opinion.

Buy up the angel like mad. It's an amazing angel, which people are going to want forever. The others, i'm kind of iffy on. The goblin needs to prove himself, and the pact just seems kinda bad but breakable.

Just as a reminder, discussions of card finance and such is best served in the economics forum. Even on newer cards :)

um, how does Goblin Piledriver need to prove itself? It's already $15 and going to go up because it can be played in modern.

Piledriver is nuts.

I got your back broski :)

I'm not entirely sold on piledriver in modern by the way.

  • Pro blue doesn't feel entirely relevant in modern. You need to get through green and black things mostly.

  • maybe goblins will get better as an archetype with the new cards. Maybe not. It feels like a gamble by gut instinct.

In standard though :

  • IMO the goblin hype will dissipate when rabblemaster leaves standard.

Soooo maybe it'll stay high for a short time but it seems like it'll be short lived

Goblins needed a strong threat that could swing T3 for massive damage instead of the alternatives that currently swing on T3 but aren't quite as strong.

@ VampireArmy

turn 1 - Goblin Guide
turn 2 - Warren Instigator or Goblin Piledriver
turn 3 - Goblin Rabblemaster

Seems dece. Throw in a Legion Loyalist and ooooooh baby.

Don't get me wrong, i'm not saying it won't happen by any means. I'm just saying I personally am not fully convinced.

The angel will be fire in any mono white deck. Could see modern play in possibly hatebears? It's a stretch considering the mana but not impossible.

No one plays rabblemaster in modern. Goblin Chieftain is better

Rabblemaster will trigger the piledriver more often helping deal more damage sooner, so that may change now that piledriver is an option. It may be worth it to run them both as 2 of's or such, we'll see.

Modern goblins splashing green for Atarka's Command and Collected Company?

Goblin Piledriver has been above 10-15 dollars for a long while. The price is slowly dropping now thanks to the reprint. I'll definitely pick up a few when it bottoms out, I want to try it out in modern, especially since I haven't played goblins since tempest/urza saga blocks.

You guys remember when Rabbles was released, how everyone thought it was what was needed to take modern goblins to the next level? Same thing here. Maybe it will, maybe it won't. It isn't a particularly busted card as pro blue does almost nothing in the format on a consistent basis (aside from get around merfolk, yay I guess), but having essentially a Rabbles 5-8 could be what gets there. I'm not convinced that it will do the work that people think it will.
