Singles are a joke and most products I find have a mark up, any magic related this that's atleast the same price?

Singles have a markup according to what? Singles don't have a MSRP.

When they first came out, I got 1000 matte black dragon shields for $70 with no shipping. Maybe check out sleeves?

Yeah I think gear is probably the best to get. Maybe get some deckboxes, a playmat, or some other stuff? I don't really know of any stores that sell singles via amazon for decent prices.

Yeah if I wasnt getting a single I wanted I would get either one really nice deck box or maybe 2 or just a bunch of sleeves

either get accessories (they are always needed or have use) or save for dual lands (unlimited)/get playset of fetches. Dual lands/reserve list items will retain value and are a good investment and fetches are easy trade bait for whatever you may need. That and fetches always will have use.

Habe you considered prerelease kits? Most are generally priced well.
