Card Carrying Cases

I have a very nice bag that I use to carry my decks in their boxes from place to place, and it serves me well. For reference, it is an Igloo brand bag that is roughly rectangular in shape with a zipper atop and a flat bottom, and is black in color with red trim.

However, I have more decks than what I can fit into that bag (I have ten regular decks, one for each two-color combination), so I shall need another case or bag for my other decks (I am building a series of three-colored decks, and will eventually have one for each three-colored combination).

Selections for such bags seem to be limited, but I know that Ultra Pro makes this case, here, which is very nice, except that it can hold only six deck boxes, and I already have eight complete decks for which I need a bag, so I cannot use it. Pirate Lab makes this very nice case, which can hold up to nine 100+ deck boxes, leaving me with only one deck box that shall need to be stored elsewhere, and I happened to find an Ultra Pro case that can hold up to three 100-card boxes, so I believe that I may be able to sue that box, as well.

What does everyone else say about this? Do you have any recommendations for a card carrying case that can carry all (or nearly all) of my decks?

I use a regular old backpack for all of my decks, have a ton of decks (well, not all decks but a lot of general stuff) that it ships easily enough, ever thought about using a backpack? I know the alure to have something made specifically for magic is nice but sometimes old fashioned solutions work best? Although I do know that the pirate lab one is extremely well made, so if you're gonna go with either, i'd say the pirate bay one.

If you order from Pirate Lab's website you can get the case with a different foam insert that holds 12 120 card boxes. Link

I own that ultra pro one. I actually hate using it. Sure it fits decks pretty well but it's really blocky and bulky. Very uncomfortable to wear

I carry my main deck in this little plexiglass box that works fine, and keep my main collection in Holiday Box and Toolkit boxes

I use this thing. It's awesome. One little case holds a 60 card deck sleeved w/ complete sideboard. If you have unsleeved decks, it can hold 2 deck boxes (like the ones out of the fat packs).

use the ultra pro case you posted, take out the foam/cardboard dividers, use ultra pro plastic edh deck cases (they only cost about $2.50 and they fit edh decks and 60 card double sleeved decks perfectly) for all your decks, and then case can hold 12 deck cases perfectly.

I just use a tool bag to carry my decks around in. If you shop around a bit at your local hardware stores I'm sure you could find one that is cheaper and significantly larger than that Pirate Lab case. Assuming that each of your decks are in their own individual boxes, you don't even really need to worry about the lack of foam padding since you can packs your decks in a way that they stay in place.

I found a nice metal briefcase thing. Not sure what it was exactly originally. I'll have to post a pic someday. It fits 9 standard deck boxes across (our 6 commander boxes) by 4 rows deep and is just tall enough to set a 1" 3 ring binder on top. It lets me carry pretty much all my favorite decks and my binder in one place when I travel. The downside is that it weighs a ton when full, but it has a nice padded shoulder strap to help

This isn't a suggestion for gear, but what is the likelihood of you using all of these decks in any one event/get together? It seems unnecessary to carry nearly a dozen decks if you're going to only play one or two.

Just my take, but then again I'm huge kn traveling light wherever I go. I can pack for my month-long winter break in a carry-on.

We usually play 7 or 8 games a night when I go places. Depending on the format people want to play, the number of players, and what colors /types of decks people are playing, I like ot have a variety available.

There's nothing worse than going out and everyone wanting to play several games of Commander and you being stuck using the same deck every game (especially if it is a mono colored and some people are playing decks that are built as pro-that color).

I also like to change things up every game and play something different. It keeps you from being too predictable and some people playing decks specifically to counter what you are playing.

alanwescoat: yes, but they are made of weak cardboard, so I made a vert nice wooden box in which I store all my unused cards (i.e., bulk commons and uncommons, since I keep my rares and mythic rares in my binder).
