Playmat Carrying

So, I just got my first playmat from SCG, and I'm wondering how to take it to FNM.

I could always just shove it in my bag, but that seems like it could cause damage. I also read somewhere that you could use a paper towel roll or something to carry it.

I got mine from Inked Play mats, and just use the tube they shipped it in.

You can purchase tubes as well.

Invest in one of these things. I use the Dragon Armor tubes myself, and they've never failed me.

I use a Monster Playmat Tube I just stick it into my backpack and it's never been damaged in the year or so that i've had it. I got mine at an LGS for $5, but I can't find one online for less that $7.

You'll sometimes see vendors wholesaling them at events. I typically haven't found them for less than $10 in person, but even at $10 it's a worthwhile investment.

I usually roll mine up with the printed side facing in and chuck it in my backpack. Some sort of protection would likely be good I suppose.

I just roll mine up and put it in my bag, there's not any wear on it at all. If you really want some protection for it you can get tubes to put playmats in at your LGS probably, not really needed though.

I carry two ultra pro proseries binders with me and I just fold it between the two.
I carry 4 EDH decks, two binders, 2 standard decks, 2 dice containers, spare sleeves
and a notebook with me so that tube takes up valuable space lol

I usually put one playmat in the tube the one I ordered shipped in. When I bring more than one, I just roll it up (art facing out) and throw it in my backpack.

Word of warning: If you roll you mat with the art facing in, after a while it won't sit flat when you unroll it. If you roll it with the art facing out, gravity will keep it flat when you unroll it.

Can you fold scg playmats? (I just got the pirate lab small elf case, not the large one due to me not having very many decks, and it only holds folded playmats) Thanks!

You can fold any playmat, but it's not really a good idea to do so. You'll crease the art, split the backing, and have trouble getting it to lie flat. You should always roll playmats art facing out for storage.
