So I'm curious into making my own custom MTG playmat. My big question is if there are any alternatives rather than buying a blank Ultra Pro. So, are there?

Well it depends on what you mean if you want to draw on a mat then yes thats what you should do. If you want to make a custom digital art and get it on a mat go to inkedplaymats

Is there something wrong with buying a blank one do you want a different material or just higher quality mat because thats the best thing I can think of

I would suggest just getting the blank Ultra PRO mat then. They should be fairly cheap to buy, and they're decent quality. I don't think there are many comparable alternatives unless you wanted to make your own fabric mat.

You can buy a blank mat for around $8. If you mean to draw on it, be careful with what you use, because certain types of markers will bleed.

I was thinking about using sharpies. Also, is it allowed top but a blank Mat customizing it and then selling it?

Sharpies are questionable. I use Copic markers and they work fairly well (minimal bleed).

You can sell mats you've customized as long as they don't contain copyrighted content/images, as far as I know.
