Hey guys, I backed this kickstarter that I saw on reddit and figured I'd share it here for anyone else that wanted to get in on it.

NorthernRaven if you go to the link then press "back this project" it tells you the options you can purchase....basically 20 for a plain deck box 25 for a certain stain and like 30 for that plus a laser engraving

That's probably the worst video I've ever seen to advertise a product/campaign. It looked like a video contest submission by a high school video class.

Flames! Yes, my standard, run-of-the-mill deckbox can withstand against jet flames for a few seconds itself and it also features no acrylic window so my opponent doesn't get a headstart sneak peek at what I'm playing.

Also, my deckbox didn't come with a video advertising just how fragile it really is in the last 15 seconds.

Oh! Oh! It's also not handcrafted, if "Mr. Nibbles (who names a woodcutter?)" is doing the crafting.

I think I'll pass.

Yeeaahhhhh, doesn't seem like something worth backing.

I'm totally fine with the acrylic front, though apparently that needs to be multi-compartmentalized for some reason, but a standard not-better-than-any-other-deckbox doesn't really seem worth it. If i'm going to be backing something new, it needs to be new, not a rehash of the same tired old thing. Even if it is a rehash, at least try to make it on par with whatever you're trying to copy instead of showing us all the ways that your product fails.

Also, if you want to be taken seriously as a business, don't let a 12 year old direct your video.

If I'm going to buy a special deckbox, I'm going to buy one of these kinds of deckboxes: https://www.etsy.com/listing/167582230/azorius-guild-custom-steampunk-deck-box?ref=shop_home_active_15

The video really didn't seem that bad. Obviously if they really need the money to make their product a reality, they probably don't have money to spare to make an over the top video or hire someone to make it(which I guess is a little reassuring that your money is going towards the product, not the ads). They obviously had fun making the video and have fun doing what they do and I like to see people on kickstarter with personalities instead of just slideshows of product.

As for the showcasing of it breaking, while that is probably a bad choice in a marketing sense, what did you really expect? They said the box was durable, not "can survive being run over". I doubt many deckboxes could. It is a niche product with a nice little benefit of being durable enough to compete with the common plastic deckboxes. The videos intention I'm guessing was to be humorous and draw attention, and when your goal is to attract potential backers, I think it is safe to say any attention is good attention.

Would I buy one? Probably not, I'm happy with my deck boxes and don't have a reason to buy more. But I do think some of you are being quite judgmental for very superficial reasons.

xzzane isn't that one of the deckboxes that tolarian academy reviewed(Link)? they seem pretty sweet.

Yeah, pretty sure they reviewed those now that I think about it. Been a while since I watched any of their stuff to be honest.

Yeah, TLC also reviewed two other hand crafted wooden boxes. Aaron Cain and Wyrmwood are two wonderfully made products. Also, Aaron Cain's boxes can actually stand the weight of a car :D

I do however like the acrylic cover on their deck boxes. Easy to tell which deck is which.
