So i have decided to go get meself some new sleeves for me edh deck. They are and need to be dragon sleeves and they are for my The God-blin King purphoros deck. What my predicament is, is that I don't know what colors to buy. I like contrast, so I would not want to buy red sleeves. I was thinking maybe blue sleeves would look cool on the red cards? What do you all think?

How is this a reasonable thing to make a thread about?

SInce goblins do like shiny things, why not go for gold? Otherwise, i would go for black. Goblin tribe is R/b anyways!

I like Blue on red or vise versa, I'd go with that! Also, I completely support this thread. Deciding what color sleeves to buy is a big life decision, it cannot be taken so lightly.

Rhinowarrior Use blue, because they will think you are playing blue, and that means you win. Remember the best card in the game is an Island , so always use blue. That being said my EDH is sleeved in purple, my standard in black, and my modern in a disgusting lime green, so maybe don't listen to me.

I thought that dragon shield green was more of a forest green? No?

miracleHat I'm one of those people who use Ultra-pros... don't hurt me. I just haven't gotten around to trying Dragon shields.

GOD I HATE ULTRA PRO!!! Assumes true form of rage and spite. Anyways, now that i am done with that, i will explain. I was drafting and ended up pulling some okay stuff (r/g w/ Polukranos, World Eater + Stormbreath Dragon along with beast uncommons) so i pretty much have to get sleeves. I get ultra pro and sleeve up my deck and start playing with it. The first match i play them in, they split. And that happened every match (down to the last 2-3 extra sleeves).

Those glossy red sleeves are pleasing to look at. Dragon Shields are pretty hit/miss on shuffle-ability, so you'll probably need to do a bit of research...

@JakeHarlow, do people have legit trouble shuffling them? I have gotten 5 different colors and haven't had any problems. Sure they aren't matte so they don't have the same feel, but as long as you use a playmat (and not play at a restaurant), they should have a smooth feel when you shuffle.

How are they hit or miss?

I'm not quite sure how sleeves split. I understand what physically happens, but I don't understand how you can shuffle as to split them. I have a set of Sorin Markov Ultra Pro sleeves that I bought when Zendikar first came out- I had that same deck together until yesterday, and never had a single sleeve split.

I've had sets of black and white Ultra Pros for a year or so now, and no problems with those either.

I don't play heavily, but the Markov's had been shuffled/played with hundreds of times. At least a few dozen games on the black and white ones.

Call me cheap, but until I have a problem or have the most expensive card in my deck not be a shockland, I don't see the point in investing in sleeves that cost double, or more, than Ultra Pros. And at that point, I'll probably start double sleeving my EDH deck.

@ miracleHat:

I'm coming from that point in time (not too long ago) when Dragon Shields we're known to be cut unevenly for certain batches. It only takes about four or five sleeves in a deck to throw things off. I got those new turquoise ones and they feel great. I also haven't heard anything about these mis-cuts for a while now. I guess the issue has been addressed and resolved. I use KMC Hyper-Mats now. They are excellent but they do begin to show surface wear rather rapidly.
