Trading Card Punch?

I am looking for a punch I can use to cut out custom tokens I make. Cutting them out with scissors is annoying and takes time I don't really wanna spend doing it. Haha. It doesn't need to be the perfect size, just something close. Even one for playing cards would be fine. I like to photoshop my own tokens, and it gets incredibly annoying cutting out 15 merfolk tokens. Or however many of whatever token.

You could try using one of these. You'd still have to round the corners, but it would be easier/more straight than scissors.

You could like, bring your photoshop'd pics to Kinkos, Staples, or whatever stationary store that's local to you, have them cut out the prints, and then have them laminated. You could even put two different tokens on each side, to consolidate token space, or just switch up designs. Wouldn't even need sleeves as they would already be water/tear proof from the lamination.

Sure it costs money, and you might get some odd looks from whoever it is that is making the laminations, but it would protect your tokens very well.

@kyuuri117 - I actually used to work at staples. Haha. Unfortunately, they do not have the type of card stock I want to use. And they won't print on my own stock because it is not certified for laser printers. Not to mention, as a former employee, I know the only way they have to do that is a roller cutter or scissors, neither of which is going to provide the cut I want. I'm kind of a perfectionist when it comes to stuff like this...that is why I hate using scissors...that and the time it takes. This is why I am looking for a punch.

@tclaw12 - Thanks for the suggestion, but it is very hard to cut exactly where you want to with those as you can't see what you're cutting given all the safety guards. Thanks for the link though! I am aware of my options as far as cutters go, everything from electric cutters, shears, and roller cutters. But I'd really like a punch because it would be identical everytime...and i could print on my own stock.

Worse comes to worst, I will just make my own punch. That is just annoying because I will have to go out and buy the materials to do so, and I really don't like messing with plate steel as I don't have the proper tools for the precise nature of a punch...I'd have to sand on it forever. But if that is what it takes...I was just hoping I could find something on amazon or ebay...but I could not.

I don't know if what you're looking for exists. If you look up "adjustable paper punch", all you get are hole punching machines. All the variations of the above search got the same thing. Nothing that punches in a rectangle or square, especially at a magic card size.

You may be correct, I couldn't find anything. That is why I posted here...I was hoping someone in the community may know something. Haha

Something like this may be what you are looking for. It says "PVC Card" but I figure it should cut card stock just as well as plastic cards. The website has many more options, some even specify that they cut business cards so that may be more your speed.

That is a little smaller than I wanted, but that is damn close. Thank you!! I messaged the seller to see if it would cut card stock, depending on the punch method, it may not. I hope so though.

Yeah the cards it cuts are 9mmx2mm smaller than a MTG card. unfortunately the 9mm is in the narrow direction so the ratio is a bit off.

Ya, it would make sleeving my tokens a pain...yes I sleeve my tokens. Haha. I guess I'll just stick with scissors for now. When I first started I was printing on adhesive paper, and sticking them to basic lands...maybe I will go back to that...hmm...

I'm sure it exists somewhere. Maybe a rectangular button die for button making would work. That is actually what I started looking for before I found the credit/business card dies.

There used to be at least one supplier which provided micro-perforated cardstock printer sheets. One type was playing-card sized with 8 cards per sheet, but another was MTG-card sized with 6 cards per sheet. I cannot find any such supplier any more, but the playing-card sized ones are still available. Plaincards.com appears to be gone, along with the rest of the suppliers. I know that I always wanted a die-cut block 63mm x 88mm for this purpose, but, unbelievably, I have never been able to find any such product. My middle school had die-cut blocks in the 1980s, but I have never seen anything like them since. All anyone needs is a die-cut block that cuts cardstock in the same size and shape as an MTG card, and it is weird that such a product is not readily available.

Anyway, you can order the playing-card sheets here.

Found it! $249 is quite a bit, but this feed A4 sheets to get 9 perfect tokens per sheet.
