Anger of the Gods

It's a Rare Sorcery, and here it is:
Anger of the Gods - 1RR
Sorcery
Anger of the Gods deals 3 damage to each creature. If a creature dealt damage this way would die, exile it instead.
Pretty straightforward, and definitely a red card. Thoughts?
....I'm guessing it's missing the "this turn" part of the text. That would be the usual text for such an effect.
Example: Annihilating Fire
This is essentially, a Sorcery speed Annihilating Fire to all creatures.

Its like a cheaper Mizzium Mortars that deals one less damage hits your creatures and exiles. I kinda like it though in my boros deck where i can just chuck a Boros Charm in at the same time. I don't know if i'll use it though going to test its uses against Mizzium Mortars when its out.

Rayenous - I did miss the "this turn" part of the rules text, that's my bad. But you're right, a mass Annihilating Fire is essentially what it is.

Makes a nasty combo in R/W if you have Elspeth too.
You can board /3 and belowand board /4 and above

I like that it hates on Voice of Resurgence . It is a pity that it isn't able to take Experiment One s along with it though (if they regen). Oh well. haha

its like a Deathrite Shaman except its not a creature and it deals 3 damage to all creatures and players. Also it doesnt exile stuff from graveyards and is red. Cool card

Was wondering when somebody would mention Slagstorm lol, took long enough

Yeah smackjack is right. It's also like a Sphinx's Revelation , except it's not an instant and it deals 3 damage to all creatures and players. Also it doesn't exile stuff from graveyards and is red.
Cool card!

This is a great card and it makes me want to start playing Red again. I honestly can't remember the last time I played Red at FNM. Wolf Run Ramp, maybe?

Green/Red and by extension Naya are getting a lot of love.

@Ruric, are you trolling? Were you around when Slagstorm was around (which this is better than)? This card is ridiculously good. If it were uncommon, it would completely break limited. It basically destroys everything aggro has.

it's actually wrath of the gods in french. if you look it up in google translate, that's what comes up.
What? the card? oh right. it's good, we kind of needed a semi-board sweeper in standard to shut the aggro decks, control may be a thing again :)

Red has always had a board-damaging sweep in every format since forever. When Scars-block rotated out, we lost Slagstorm and Whipflare . It's about time we got one back.

Well, technically, we had Mizzium Mortars ... which is now really only good for taking out one creature, sort of.
September 11, 2013 1:13 p.m.
Actually, with less 3 color decks and more mono-color decks, I would expect Mizzium Mortars to become more common.... the 3 specific color mana for it's overload was too much for some decks.
And comparing it to "Anger of the Gods", there's nothing better than the mortars one-sidedness. Not killing your own creatures is HUGE.... though 6 mana vs. 3 is also HUGE.
I think we'll see both in different deck types... and some decks with both.

sorry i wasnt arround while Slagstorm but according to SCG is worth arround .75 cents even though is really good for me since im a Red player not sure why is so cheap? and im pretty sure this will worth arround the same sadly ....
September 11, 2013 1:21 p.m.
Slagstorm is $.75 NOW because it's not Standard. In its heyday, it was $4 per.
And 3-color decks already play the shit out of Mortars because land-bases are so good right now that, if you don't have 3 Red on turn 6, you're just unlucky (or don't know how to build land-bases).

Slagstorm is not worth much because it is outclassed by sweepers in other formats, and thus doesn't have a demand making them less valuable.
September 11, 2013 2:46 p.m.
i just want a red board sweeper, that all im asking( a good one) Wrath of God or Mutilate good like
September 11, 2013 3:21 p.m.
Blasphemous Act isn't a Red board-wipe? If you find yourself up against something with more than 13 toughness, you're going to lose no matter what. And don't tell it's not good. I ran 3 and a 4th in the side in Wolf Run last summer.
Aside from that, "destroying" a creature isn't really in Red's color traits. Red cards deal with damage and very rarely actually "destroy" a creature.
September 11, 2013 3:24 p.m.
And on top of that, Slagstorm and Anger of the Gods does 3 damage to everything. That'll kill off 75-85% of creatures post-rotation anyways. And if something's bigger, just attack into it with a small creature and THEN blow the board.

This is great for control decks, totally bums me out as i'm playing JUND aggro, with graveyard shenanigans one of my best moves.
Oh you'll Supreme Verdict will you? well i'll just playing this Scavenging Ooze and make it a 10/10 har har har. Now i'm more like this -> :( sniff

I quite like this. But yes, as far as a sweeper for Modern? Not so hot. Better than Slagstorm ? Depends on what you're doing, I abuse Surgical Extraction so I'd rather their creatures hit the graveyard...
It'll be decent for Standard though. Now that Blasphemous Act and Bonfire of the Damned are rotating it'll have to be for a reset in red to be possible.
September 11, 2013 3:53 p.m.
@MindAblaze!, in modern it's good because of pod. Helps so much vs. finks, voice, Murderous Redcap , and Strangleroot Geist . It's also good against a meta filled with DRS, Oozes, and/or finks. For modern, I think the choice is between Pyroclasm , Firespout , and this as far as red board wipes.
September 11, 2013 6:47 p.m.
I like it a lot. Red needed a wrath to deal with all of the hexproof creatures. I've been using 2x Rolling Temblor and 1x Blasphemous Act in my American control deck that runs Boros Reckoner . I was sort of hoping for a Pyroclasm that also hit players, but this will work just fine. I'm not sure whether American will be the way to go post rotation, but this gives me a decent option and goes great with elspeth. I approve.
September 11, 2013 10:49 p.m.
Wow, didn't know about Volcanic Fallout . Instant speed and can't be countered. That's the wrath I was dreaming of.
Ruric says... #2
is good but not as valuable as Flamebreak i think they should have added something in addition, like turn it into an instant, or damage to each planeswalker too or even scry 2....i find this more like a good uncommon card than a rare one.....this should not go higher than 2$
